Hey

I am trying to make a guest network on my RT-66 using this guide below

http://www.mcbsys.com/techblog/2011/11/set-up-guest-wireless-with-tomato/

However everytime I create the wireless and enable it both my main and guest network stop accepting their password and I cant log to any of them though they have different passwords and names.

Is there something I am doing wrong? I choose br3 could this cause a problem though I dought that.

It is working for me though I'm only in AP mode. Using the latest Shibby build but also had it working on the latest Toastman.

I believe you need to leave STP disabled on both bridges, make sure you didn't enable that (though I may be wrong).

So does the main wireless work, and then when you add the guest wireless neither works? Or does the main wireless not even work?

Make sure you do a thorogh clear of NVRAM after upgrading to Tomato as that can cause a lot of issues, even if you router was already factory default.

Thanks man for the help but the STP is disabled

I attached some more images maybe someone could figure this out

Br3 is supposed to be the guest network and should utilize a different subnet 192.168.3.1-254 for this case.

The thing is I did get the guest wireless to work last week but only in the same subnet, now I am trying to have it work on its subnet

So does the main wireless work, and then when you add the guest wireless neither works? Or does the main wireless not even work?

Yup neither network passwords worked which is confusing and btw the router restarted itself after enabling the guest network and when it was done from the restart disabled the guest network. I just wanted to through that one in right there

I did that as well.

What I am trying to do here is trying to have a private network within my home network, if I could choose certain devices by their MAC address and have only those PCs see each other like a VPN thats all I am after.

If I could have isolation working on guest network while its still in the same subnet I don't mind. you know just something to keep the visitors away from my network

ps: hmm can't seem to make the images show directly from the forum :( sorry you`ll need to click

Just to clear this thread and any dought thrown at tomato, I got the thing to work yesterday and its working perfectly now 2 SSIDs with 2 different subnets and I could limit the bandwidth of the guest network easily if I wanted to ;)

Tomatousb is a joy to work with seriously I LOVE this firmware I feel like I've seen the light after many years of hardship

I had all the data be backed up on a silly old usb that I connected to the router

I just need to do a daily configuration backup and remove the final item from the two do list

Didn't notice the previous reply, glad you got it working. With toastman's build I had noticed I needed to do things in a very specific order or things would get hosed up (GUI wouldn't even display right), I don't think I had the same problem with Shibby but may have just been used to the order I was doing it in by then. So maybe that was affecting you, not sure. I also am only using it as an AP, no DHCP or router so haven't used those settings at all.

Going to bump this thread because I am having issues as well.

I have followed Shibby's polish guide to the letter but still have a final difficulty.
I am broadcasting my ssid and and I can see my mac address for the virtual wireless interface wl0.1 in the web admin but none of my device see the mac.

All devices see is mac 00.00.00.00.00.00

does anyone have any ideas ???
Tried to change macs in the advanced tab ect... but nothing is showing up on any of my devices.

I've noticed that sometimes after changing wireless settings you have to reboot the router before some clients can see the guest network, it will disappear or show no signal.

That was of course the first thing I tried. Soft reboots from web admin, power button shutdowns, ect ect ...

Getting the WL driver error on the info page for the virtual wireless ap. Will take a screen grab and put it up later.

I am far from export but when I was configuring mine same thing happened and I just rebooted the router and I got power to the new guest wireless, 2 days later I did a complete reset of the modem and had to configure the guest network again, I had the same issue and just rebooted the router and it worked fine. So i was ale yo recreate the issue and Resolve it using same method

I hope this helps

Hi all, I tried Shibby's latest build version 097 with 64k ram and I kept all the settings from build version 095. But I doesn't seem to me that Shibby has fixed the issues with Virtual Wireless / Multi SSIDs yet...

P/s: I tried to wipe out all the previous settings and configured the router from scratch, but still couldn't fix the issue with MAC being 00.00.00.00.00.00 or wireless signal just disappearing after sometimes. Any good solution ?

Hi all!
Problem is solved for me with the latest '097 version of Shibby.
http://tomato.groov.pl/download/K26RT-N/build5x-097-EN/Asus RT-Nxx (with USB)/
Using: tomato-K26USB-1.28.RT-N5x-MIPSR2-097-AIO.trx

Guest-WIFI now working.
Rebooted the router after complete setup.

Have you tested connect to BSSID ? I can get it to show bssid-MAC but not connect.
And on which router?

No problem to connect. Computer is getting the new IP-adress (range set in router). Surfing without any problem. Not possible to get access to other computers in the normal LAN. So everything looks fine for me. :)

Okey, just wonder. people report they can't get it to work.
But there is always that way. :D

Thanks octopus

Still have the (warning: WL driver reports BSSID 00:00:00:00:00:00) on .97 shibby
