I've been trying to track down an issue where my router crashes and reboots while streaming a game from my PC (wired) to my Shield Portable (wireless on 5ghz) and I believe I have identified entries in the log that correlate to the issues that are causing the crash.

Whenever my stream glitches the following event log entry pops up. If it glitches and recovers quickly then things resume as normal. If it glitches multiple times and then freezes the router crashes and reboots. Any idea what this event log entry is indicating?

Strictly a guess, but you may try changing these settings on the Wireless/Professional tab....

AMPDU RTS
Optimize AMPDU aggregation

Not sure of the defaults, but on my system I have RTS Enabled and the aggregation Disabled.

Another possibility is to try both states for the Optimize for Xbox on the Wireless/General tab.

I think you nailed it!! I'm still testing but it's looking promising so far.

With AMPDU Aggregation disabled I received the event logs and the glitchy streaming. With AMPDU Aggregation enabled the event log entries weren't present and the stream was very smooth.

I also noticed that if I disabled AMPDU Aggregation and cranked my stream settings to max quality (1080p and 60FPS) that the even log entries came fast and furious and it eventually crashed the router.

I left the stream settings at max and enabled AMPDU Aggregation and NO event log entries!!

I need more time to be certain but I feel like this is it because I was able repeat the issue nearly on demand.

Thanks a ton for your help! This one has been driving me crazy!!

I still getting an occasional event log entry but it's not crashing the router and I'm getting solid streaming service. Fingers crossed that it continues to work!

Glad to hear that it seems to have helped! When I took a peek at the code, those were the only settings that seemed like they may have been related to the logs you were seeing.

Will keep my finger crossed as well :)

PS - Had never heard about a 'Shield Portable' before (I'm not a gamer)....interesting little box.

The Shield Tablet is pretty cool as well. Better hardware in there and therfore a better streaming experience. Virtually no controller lag while streaming which boggles my mind.

The only reason I have these devices is because I have 2 kids under 2 years old. So I have to get creative on m my gaming time and place!

Well, my luck has run out. I can't seem to stream anything right now for more than 5 minutes.

But... I may have another theory on what's going on. Currently, my wife is streaming a YouTube video on her Chromebook and we having music streaming to two Sonos players in my kids' rooms so I'm starting to wonder if the crashing is happening because of network congestion somehow?

I'm going to wait until she is done with YouTube and see what happens. I can't imagine that the Sonos music streaming would have to big of an impact.

You may indeed be running out of bandwidth. With wireless, the available bandwidth is shared amongst all the connected clients. If things start working again when the YouTube streaming stops, that's most likely what is happening.

You could also try lowering the quality/resolution of the streams to see if that helps.
