New Around Here
Hi

First post since buying the asus the other day. Credit to Merlin for bringing us fantastic firmwares for these routers.

I am trying to get my head around the LAN speeds showing in Tools. Gb WAN is good- 1000mb but LAN 1 is showing as 100mb.

Its a PS4 connected to LAN 1 (capable of gb speed). I've changed the CAT5e cables to eliminate cabling. Also noticed there is no option to change duplex or speeds from auto anywhere in the lan settings.

Any help appreciated, thanks.

Try the same cable with a different device (1GBIT supported) and check it again, if its OK then its something with PS4/FW related.

Your WAN is working at 1GBIT connection, so check if you can work also at GBIT speed on any of your LAN ports with any other device.

I would not advise connecting WAN cable to LAN port, you may cause quite havoc in upstream network (unless it has DHCP filtering configured) as your router has DHCP server on LAN side. ;)

Disable DHCP in router, before such experiments!

What? Who talked about connecting WAN port to LAN port?

Maybe I misinterpreted you then, but thats what I concluded from this sentence...put cable from WAN port to LAN port to see, if it comes up with 1Gbit...

"so check if you can work also at GBIT speed on any of your LAN ports with any other device."

LAN port + other device :)

That would mean a LAN port with any other device beside PS4.

I'm having the same problem with my Xbox One it is saying 10mb full duplex but xbox one is capable of a gig and on speed tests on it I get fluctuation in speed from 120 to 300 mbs.

1) If you're getting up to 300 Mbps on a speed test then you can't be using a 10 Mbps interface. It sounds like you're connecting using Wi-Fi.
2) Replace the LAN cable and make sure it's Cat 5e or Cat 6.
3) Plug the LAN cable into one of the other LAN sockets on the router, the LAN socket may be damaged or dirty.
4) Check that the LAN socket on the Xbox is not damaged or dirty.

I suggest unplugging all wired network devices and clients from the AC power and leaving them unplugged for at least half an hour or more.

Then, plug in the modem, wait five minutes.
Plug in the router, wait five minutes.
Plug in any switches and turn on any wired computers you may have.

After they have all fully booted up and settled (around 10 minutes or more) see if the indicated interface connections are as expected.

Xbox owner here. It does that when it's in sleep mode to conserve power. The network adapter stays active to check for software updates and downloads. If you turn it on, it should change to 1000mbps full duplex.

PS4 might do the same. Check if it's still 100mbps when you turn it on.

Ya I was playing around with it last night trying different cables an connections and it does come up to 1000 mbps full duplex once it comes on it don't know how it was stuck at the 10mbps full duplex maybe I didn't give it enough time to change..
