    That is correct ... And I would consider to buy FCC edition (from auction websites for example) rather than ETSI one - you will get twice better wifi performance and coverage. Asus is blocking in new firmware possibility to change country codes. So be it.

    Well, I've done some test on 1663 fw. BASIC CONS are: 1. "wl_reg_mode=d" / "wl0_reg_mode=d" (those are critical variables for mac) won't survive reboot ! 2. "wl_country_code" won't survive the the reboot ! There is only one hope - Merlin will fix this in his firmware adition and allow...

    5mhz issues with RT-AC56U and latest macbook pro retina(late 2013)

    Try to use Regulatory d (for 2.4) and d+h (for 5.0) on the router. You can find it in Merlin's soft 38_2 or 39_0 on Professional tab Wireless Menu. This should help with Mac communication, especially when higher 5 GHz channel used.

    I use NTFS for USB 3.0 HDD. It easy reaches +60 MB/s READ (65 as far as i remember the TOP) and 55 MB/s WRITE transfer speed. I didn't experiment with other formats as I found NTFS good enough. OC@1200/800.

    In theory it should work without "pushing the button" however it does not. End there is one more thing ... be careful with settings and monitor temperature ! RMerlin does not recommend this workaround because you may loose the way back if something goes wrong with OC ! It is good to understand...
