RT-N66U Merlin F/W Repeater Wrong Gateway IP

As you know from my post, I have a similar issue with the AC68U. I get the same behaviour when setting "Obtain IP address automatically", from within the Repeater Mode config screen (after you connect to host wireless network). The repeater (wrongly) acts as gateway and doesn't give out the...

Repeater mode not working on 5Ghz band (RT-AC68U - 380.57)

Yes its probably related to DHCP forwarding. Strange how it works on 2.4Ghz but not 5Ghz though. As you say, static IP's work, but there will be 100+ wireless clients connecting in my set up - static IP's are not an option.

Repeater mode not working on 5Ghz band (RT-AC68U - 380.57)

When setting up an AC68U in repeater mode - connecting to the AC87U router on a 5 Ghz channel, wireless clients can't connect through it, either on 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz. Clients fail to obtain an IP addresses. The AC68U is contactable when connecting through the AC87U. Works as it should when...

[SOLVED] Blocking specific incoming IP addresses

I have edited the firewall-start file with the built in vi editor (vi firewall-start), deleted the ^M (pressing x) and saved (pressing ZZ), which seems to work fine now. Annoying how Notepad++ saving in Unix format seemingly doesn't work. I'm sure there will be a way for the firewall-start...

[SOLVED] Blocking specific incoming IP addresses

I am getting this: -sh: dos2unix: not found When I run "vi firewall-start", there is ^M at the end of every line which is clearly the problem.

[SOLVED] Blocking specific incoming IP addresses

It looks that way :( I have been using Notepad++ , i assumed that would be good enough. How do I install dos2unix? Im running Windows, can it be installed on the router, if so how?

[SOLVED] Blocking specific incoming IP addresses

"Enable JFFS custom scripts and configs" under "Persistent JFFS2 partition" is set to Yes. The log shows: "Dec 13 07:40:57 custom script: Running /jffs/scripts/firewall-start (args: eth0)" so it should run, but as there is no mention of the log text output or the temp files, it doesn't appear...

[SOLVED] Blocking specific incoming IP addresses

Still can't seem to get it to work, just to be sure im going down the right lines here... i want to block say 5 IP addresses that are connecting on port 8888, but it is still listed to forward on the virtual server/port forwarding page because i want to be able to connect using mobile internet -...

[SOLVED] Blocking specific incoming IP addresses

I'm adding this to the firewall-start file (enabling scripts, saving it Unix, and making it executable) but its not working. What am I doing wrong? : #!/bin/sh logger "Applying firewall-start rules" iptables -A INPUT -s xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -j DROP iptables -A OUTPUT -d xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -j DROP...

[SOLVED] Blocking specific incoming IP addresses

The problem with port forwarding is apparently your opening it to the whole WAN which is allowing it through the firewall. In my situation I need to be able to specify the 10 or so allowed clients and block everything else, or at least block specific IP's that are finding my open ports. Doesn't...

[SOLVED] Blocking specific incoming IP addresses

So if I swap around the Source and Destination, it will work I assume (stop the local LAN device replying to WAN). Seems ridiculous how you can't specify specific an incoming WAN IP addresses to block on such a powerful router straight out of the box :( Anyway thanks for clearing that up, and...

[SOLVED] Blocking specific incoming IP addresses

I have an Asus RT-AC68U, running latest firmware: 378.56_2 The issue is I have many connections from foreign IP addresses that I want to block. I have added these into the Network Services Filter Table (black list), but connections are still allowed to be made. There is no log of dropped...

    NAT Loopback (RT-AC68U / DSL-N66U)

Thanks for your reply. It's mainly CCTV servers that are running which use mainly HTTP, but changed from port 80. I could try use the N66U as the router with the AC68U as an access point - it just seems a shame "wasting" such a powerful router and putting the extra work on the "slower"...

    NAT Loopback (RT-AC68U / DSL-N66U)

Here is my setup: Asus RT-AC68U - (Merlin 3.0.0.4_374.42_2) - 192.168.10.1 Asus DSL-N66U - (Asus 1.0.7.0) - 192.168.0.5 WAN - (PPPoE VDSL2) - Dynamic IP (DDNS set up and working) ((( [AC68U] <---> [DSL-N66U] <---> [WAN] I understand that this double NAT setup is not ideal, but the...
