Cisco Announces Smart Wi-Fi Router Line

So the new EA4500 is E4200v2 with new firmware? Still, glad I did not buy the v2, or else that 4500 model number would keep bugging me :D

QNAP TS-412 Turbo NAS Reviewed - Errata

Exactly what has happened to Scientific Atlanta, and is happening to Linksys. I think when the next generation of routers is released there will be no more reference to linksys on the box. Right now it's still there, in small font, right under a huge lightened up CISCO logo.. :D

QNAP TS-412 Turbo NAS Reviewed - Errata

As far as I can tell by rumors coming partially from CISCO employees, the company is not looking to sell it. Even though it has no value right now, due to re branding (same applies to SA - all newer cable boxes are CISCO branded). It appears we might see them selling some of the portfolio, but...

QNAP TS-412 Turbo NAS Reviewed - Errata

FLIP yes, but that was kinda expected, as it was out of CISCO's core network business and I followed that rumor mill started by theregister.co.uk back in mid May about CISCO looking to sell Linksys & WebEx, which never materialized (or did it?). resent rumors, (yearly July) suggest both are here...

QNAP TS-412 Turbo NAS Reviewed - Errata

Longer warranty and brand loyalty are two major factors for me. Their current line is 1 year old exactly. Do you recall from your previous experience what is the lifetime for their products in this segments? Like how often do they introduces new models, considering they are re branding QNAP...

QNAP TS-412 Turbo NAS Reviewed - Errata

Nice review. Do you think CISCO might move in and get some of these re branded? Their offerings are all-atom-based soho for now, and I was waiting for them to get some Marvell alternatives on board. :)

    Linksys 11n Lineup 2010 (Pre-CES)

Hm, I have 610N and tomorrow is the last day to return it for full refund to BestBuy, do you think those new ones are worth using my old 54G for a few month? I mean I'm not very happy with 610 v2, and was hoping for v3, but it looks like it's not gonna happen now :(

    WRT610n V2.0 + DD-WRT mini + Intel 5100

Thanks, figured it out, 5100 reports TX in windows when idle (150mbps) and goes up to 300 when doing any type of download/browsing, so I'm getting it up close @ 300mbps in both 5Ghz N and 2.4 Ghz N (40 mode). The problem is still the range for 5Ghz. Right now ddwrt settings for 5Ghz look...

    WRT610n V2.0 + DD-WRT mini + Intel 5100

Ok here is the info page for 5ghz. The problem is that the client (Vaio Z with Intel 5100, latest drivers 13.0.0.107 and Win 7 64bit) shows 150mbps connection speed in the task manager 30cm away from the router, even though the router shows 270mbps (why not 300?!) Also the Signal Quality...

Linksys WRT610N 5Ghz range - how to increase

Well it's not an option, unfortunately. So it's either getting the 5ghz out of the 9mbps range with settings/firmware or getting a better router that will not suck as much. :( Btw could it be my intel 5100 wifi that causes the slowdown with 5ghz, or it does not mater? I have the latest drivers...

Linksys WRT610N 5Ghz range - how to increase

sadly it did not help at all, I tried oher settings but it looks like the range is just not there. Do you know of any alternative firmware that can boost the range for 5 on this box? thanks

Linksys WRT610N 5Ghz range - how to increase

you're right about the antennas, both are internal, so they out of the question. I will try 20Mhz, thank you, but do you know if they would conflict, since 2.4 is also set to use 20Mhz only?

Linksys WRT610N 5Ghz range - how to increase

Hey there, I've got 610N v2 with latest firmware, I'm planning to use it with my notebook (Vaio Z with Intel® WiFi Link 5100/5300) and PS3 (G mode reserved for that). The problem is that the 5Ghz which I wanted to used with my notebook is very slow (same position with 2.4Ghz gives me 4-5 bars...
