    Untangle at Home Reviewed

Thanks a lot. I'm looking at a Synology Router (my Friend uses it with his Eero setup and loves it) and an Untangle compatible box. Likely to try both and keep the one that works best for me. Of all I read Untangle at Home is likely better for me than Sophos or pfSense.

    Untangle at Home Reviewed

I use Eero for Wi-Fi and it does pretty well given the configuration of my house. I tried the Eero Premium service. It said it was blocking a lot of bad stuff, but not what it was blocking. My 8-year old is getting into Steam gaming. Found uTorrent and a video app on his P.C. Likely by add-on...

    Untangle at Home Reviewed

I am tech literate, but modestly so with networking. I was thinking Untangle at Home to increase the control I have over my network. A friend recommended a Synology router while disabling the WiFi feature. For someone such as me would this be worth the trade-off vs. any extra power Untangle may...

Best Buy's Magnolia To Use Domotz Remote Services for Troubleshooting

I'm running it on my QNAP NAS as a trial. Interesting product, but a lot of it included with the software on my Eero system.

    Netgear GS116 vs. GS116E for Novice/Intermediate User

I posted the question on Serve The Home as well. The Netgear site makes it a bit difficult to compare models along different lines. The GS116 would be the easy choice. The GS116E would allow growth and if the GSS116E is just the GS116E with a different mounting system I could save $20. I'll...

    Netgear GS116 vs. GS116E for Novice/Intermediate User

I've been slowly improving my network as we've gone to total streaming of media. Yeah #cordcutter First the Asus Router went and replaced with the Eero Mesh system. Then the stock cable provided modem and replaced with Arris SB6190. I'm now looking at replacing my Netgear 8-port switch, the...

Please suggest what AC router I can get max range with

Wanting to use them to get my TVs off of the wireless portion of my network. Hoping it will give better performance for internet browsing. Probably not, but it's a nice thought anyway.

    Eero and MoCA

Yes, the Fire TV. I have 60 and 4. Wireless AC with Eero. Live shows seem to do better. Fairly frequent buffering on Cloud DVR or On Demand shows. We tried Sling TV after cutting cable and it was miserable. Although frustrating, we're not going back to cable. Netflix, YouTube and Amazon Video...

Circle - WiFi access control for Parents

They have a Circle Go subscription when off network and it's quite pricey.

Luma Now Shipping, Coming To Best Buy

I had 6 Luma devices ordered and cancelled after they shipped to Best Buy before me. Numerous broken promises and lack of promised features. I wish them well, but using 3 Eero devices now.

    eero Now At Best Buy

Saw them setting next to Luma when I was there earlier I was caught in the Luma debacle, but was glad to cancel the 6 units I had ordered. Now using 3 Eero devices instead.

eero 3 pack vs ubiquiti edgerouter + 3 x unifi lites

Using Eero for a few weeks now. It's solid, luckily got mine with a discount code. Still quite interested in the Amplif HD models. Waiting for some more real world reviews. All the Amplifi reviews I've seen have been good.

Please suggest what AC router I can get max range with

I went through the whole Luma debacle. I cancelled the order after 8 months and it arrived the day after I installed Eero. Trying to get great WiFi in my home. It's 30 years old and running cable would be problematic. Eero is doing well, but quite intrigued with Ubiquiti Amplifi HD which is...

    Eero and MoCA

Thanks for all the great information. Just replaced my original Charter with a new model provided by Charter. It killed my Eero and Windows wouldn't connect. Went to Best Buy and just bought a new Arris SB1690 and things improved including ping. Tried Flirc and a Harmony 650, an uncomfortable...

    Eero and MoCA

So in that case I'll look at the 6200. Only a little more for their fastest adapter. Thanks a lot. Their site wasn't a lot of help.

    Eero and MoCA

Thanks. The literature for the 6200 specifically mentions a compliant router's being required so I was getting confused. Emailed Actiontec and no answer yet.

    Eero and MoCA

Eero seems to be providing a solid wireless signal in my home. Day to day however I'm not convinced that it's greatly different than my Asus Wireless AC Router. Ping times still in 30's or higher, page loads vary and PlayStation Vue still buffers (a lot). I know a lot of variables here. One...

    4-Bay NAS for Plex

I am beginning to lean that way. I like the complete package of a prebuilt NAS, but think it is too wimpy for what I need. I stumbled upon this build for cheap and I may simply use Win10 on it with DrivePool from CoveCube. Make it a backup target with VEEAM, Plex, CrashPlan, etc. $229 for an...

    4-Bay NAS for Plex

I'm currently running an OG Core i7 with 8GB of RAM on WHS 2011. With this software dying and becoming unreliable I'm looking at going to a NAS box. This box uses a lot of electricity and makes a lot of heat. It needs to be a dumb box, sitting in the corner with probably 4-4TB drives. I'll...

    QNAP 451+?

Any updates? I'm considering the same exact models and Plex is very important to me.
