2.5" sata nas

Looking to get a NAS for home (1TB, RAID 1, iTunes support with at least 1 USB port for backup). I see Thecus has announced the N0204 miniNAS and I'm intrigued by the smaller footprint, reduced noise and cooling benefits but concerned by the potential performace hit of the lower RPM.

Do you think it's worth the wait to see if the 2.5"s can deliver or are we in for a couple of years of hype before these devices are ready for prime time?

All depends on the drives and memory and CPU power in the NAS.

Footprint isn't that much smaller, but total size is.

Go compare the Buffalo LinkStation Mini, Iomega ix2 and Iomega StorCenter Network hard drive. All are pretty small and use the same Marvell processor. The Iomega's use 3.5" drives and the Buffalo uses 2.5".
