I’m trying to understand how to set up my AC68U correctly.
when I enter http://192.168.1.1 in my browser I get to the rt-ac68u interface. I use the “Quick internet setup” and everything seems to work as it should. (wireless 5GHz, 2,4GHz and a wired iMac).
I get my internet connection through an ethernet cable in the wall of my apartment house.(internet access is included in the rent and none of my neighbours seem to know how to get in contact with the adminstrator/provider
. The connection is fast and stable about 95 Mbps UL/Dl, ping 1 ms (speedtest.net)
When I enter http://192.168.2.1 in my browser i get to a login window to a “VPN7100”,-a gateway I suppose?
Under administration the ac68u I use the “Wireless router mode (Default)” mode, and I run the Asuswrt-Merlin 380.63_2 firmware.
I wonder if I should use “Access Point(AP) mode” instead?
Also I tried to change the DNS under WAN dns settings, but “namebench” still reports the DNS of our IP provider. (If I change it in my Macs network settings “namebench” report the new DNS)
So how should I setup the router..
