Can you recommend a filter list for android mobile and tablet clients running chrome? Unfortunately when watching some movies on the browser I get some popups. The same site on my PC doesn't have the same issue. Thanks

My CPU is at 98-99% all the time after recent AgH upgrade. It is causing issues Iike not being able to navigate around in the UI & ssh has become very very slow too. I know my router is not very powerful but it has been running fine till now. Do I have any options apart from removing AgH or buying a more powerful router?

What router are you using. Have latest AGH running on my ax88u pro with no problems. cPUs usually stays under 10 percent.

I am no expert but might be Adguard is eating your memory thus slowing down your network. By the looks of that router, it has 256mb ram. You can try using diversion and check if it is working for you. Might be limited to your router capacity.

I have the 68U also and unless you run a few scripts with small lists and not those with hundreds of thousands of entries then AG runs fine, as soon as you run 1 large script the router shirts itself.
I'm gonna wait for the new Diversion. But I uninstalled AG as without large lists it doesn't block popups on my wireless android clients which kinda makes it useless for my needs.

I have the 68U also and unless you run a few scripts with small lists and not those with hundreds of thousands of entries then AG runs fine, as soon as you run 1 large script the router shirts itself.

so you tell me. Users are welcome to do as they wish. There is not guarantee that AdGuardHome will work under all possible scenarios. Most people have had the best results using it following guides like this:

its not the memory that's an issue as I have 52% RAM usage its the cpu usage, but I am trying the Edge edition now.

However like I said earlier if AGH doesnt block popups from the sites I visit on Android I may aswell turn it off, unless there is a filter list that blocks them?

On my main PC I run the default Ublock Origin and it blocks the annoying popups.

Anyway I've installed Edge now and these are the options I chose. Ublock Origin pic also attached.

It seems with Edge version my CPU usage isn't rocketing to 80-90% causing my internet to freeze whilst using the OISD Big list, which previously would cause problems explained earlier.

Max core 1&2 spikes is 30% but it settles back to single digit core usage.

90% of Ads are blocked using the utility you linked earlier.

That tells me there is a problem present in the current "stable version" that is fixed in the edge edition. The problem is probably more noticeable on these routers with less memory than it is with other routers.

no idea, I can run one large filter script and several little ones without problems occuring and it doesn't do a good job of blocking ads anyway. As soon as I add another, for example one from the customfilter list you provided earlier the problems occur again, so I wouldn't call this a win.

So, I wouldn't mix and match Mine with the default lists because that is over kill. Too much overlap between mine and the lists that are default selectables within adguardhome.

Which ones relate to popups?

Yesterday I installed these (see pics) and managed to get 91% score and the cpu usage is normal. Whilst the score doesn't mean much I assume the popups get are related to the ones not being blocked?

Do I insert that script into custom filtering rules page like in the pics?

Yesterday I installed these (see pics) and managed to get 91% score and the cpu usage is normal. Whilst the score doesn't mean much I assume the popups get are related to the ones not being blocked?

looks right, yes custom filter rules.

The green check marks indicate all the ones that were blocked.

This is the best indicator right here.

so I guess its just a case of manually trying each filter from the list and seeing which blocks the popups and doesn't bork the router now. This could take a while.

its done it again and it's becoming annoying as I have to delete scripts to get the internet working again and then spend an hour populating the AG filter lists whilst waiting for the CPU usage to hopefully go down before adding another list.

Time to call it a day with Adguard. I appreciate your help but like I've said a few times before, if it doesn't block ads on my wireless clients regardless of what score is shown in some tool which is probably innacurate anyway :

So, I wouldn't mix and match Mine with the default lists because that is over kill. Too much overlap between mine and the lists that are default selectables within adguardhome.

Question: PiHole resolves duplicates, so doesn't AdGuard have similar capabilities?

I am sure it does, but all of the processing requires extra unnecessary work being done which is my point. That requires more CPU work. Pihole and AdGuardHome are designed totally differently. Pihole is more forgiving when it comes to processing lists. AdGuardHome has been show to cause huge spikes in CPU and memory usage due to the nature of its own processing.

All online adblocker tests can be picky in the sense they function better on a browser specific basis. I trust loading web pages typically full of Ads more than I trust the online tests.
