Is it possible to have the following setup

AC5300 as primary router / wireless AP running Merlin and then AC88U as a AiMesh node also running Merlin?

[Yes / No]

Is AC5300 and AC88U support looking good? Just asking because ...

I have been running with the AC88U for a long time (prior was the RT-N66U) and quite happy with both.
My AC88U is primary now. I would be buying a used AC5300 to create the AiMesh, but wanted to confirm there was no upstream support issues with the AC5300.

I saw in the change logs that some models were losing future builds because of upstream support issues.

Thanks much

bump and I looked up chipsets.

Interesting to me that the AC5300 has less RAM than the 88U

AC88U has Broadcom BCM4709C0

AC5300 has BCM4709+BCM4366 (2.4GHz) + 2 x BCM4366 (5GHz)

They both use the BCM4366 for wifi.
