New Around Here
Hi all, first time poster here.

I have discovered a problem with my new 4G-AC55U router from Asus and I hope that some of you tech guys can help me out locating the problem. And how to fix it :)

The router works perfectly when it comes to stable LTE connections and such...but there is one thing I still don't understand, somehow the routing table gets applied 1 time every hour, disconnecting all VPN clients (Running VPN server on the Asus) for 2-4minutes each hour.

Here's a copy paste from the system log:
Feb 21 04:59:55 start_nat_rules: apply the nat_rules(/tmp/nat_rules_usb0_usb0)!
Feb 21 04:59:55 wan: finish adding multi routes

And here is after another hour:

Feb 21 06:00:03 ntp: start NTP update

Also, in the WAN screen under Connection Info, the timer for connection time resets after it has past 1 hour, at the same time the script from the system log runs. See screenshow below:

The clock don't have anything to do with the resets afaik, as If I were to manually restart the router at ex: 1630, it would still run the script at 1730. The pattern is 1 time each hour after last reboot/restart.

I called asus support, and they told me to turn the group key rotation interval on the Wifi setting to zero. I tried it but still no change.

I have tried several APN from my ISP but it doesn't help, this is a router based problem.

When I ping the WAN-IP from the outside, there is no loss when the router starts the script, so its only affecting the internal clients withing the router network.

Running stock firmware:
Operation Mode:Wireless router Firmware Version:3.0.0.4.378_8150

Is there a way to disable that script that runs on the asus? Because losing 3-4mins connection time every hour results in 96min each day, which I find very frustrating.

I don't think this is a problem with the router as such. This line
Feb 21 04:59:59 dhcp client: bound 77.18.154.113 via 77.18.154.113 during 7200 seconds.
suggests that your ISP is giving you a lease time of 2 hours. DHCP clients will normally renew their lease half way through the lease time.

Hey Colin,

But still with a stable WAN connection and a Local connection with no drops...I find it strange that the VPN server disconnects all the clients.

I pinged from an external IP to the WAN IP of the router, no drops while that dhcp client bound to the ip address.
I pinged from a local lan computer connected to the asus router to an external IP without any drops in communication.

So it seems like its a VPN server bug in the firmware? Is there anyway to work around that?
