Enabling 'Network Monitoring' kills LAN DNS on WAN failure

On my RT-AX86U with Merlin v386.7, if I enable the networking monitoring feature and set it to ping google.co.uk, and then disconnect my Broadband, the red LED lights up on the router .... but I discover that I cannot access any of my LAN equipment using their DNS names (IP address works fine).
If I disable this feature and disconnect my broadband, red LED does not light up (as is now not detected by the router), but my LAN DNS is fine.
Seems like a bug?

Set "Enable WAN down browser redirect notice" to No under Administration - System, if it's not already set that way.

That fixes it ... shame one needs to disable this feature though, as in theory one can just redirect WAN IP addresses to this page; I'd argue the 'Enable WAN down browser redirect notice' feature is broken as is unusable basically.
