New Around Here
Hey there!

So I was fiddling with my ac66u today, and noticed that bandwidtj is rather low on both wifi and LAN - > WAN, and vice versa. I installed dd-wrt on it, and played with the setup there, but wired performance was even worse.

So figured I'd roll back to asus-merlin.

Factory reset, then flashed 380.59.worked perfectly.

Then I tried restoring my settings to it, it rebooted, and now its dead in the water.

I've tried 30/30/30, wps ~15 seconds, the works.

Power led is flashing slowly, but unable to reach router at 192.168.1.1. dhcp does not work it seems, but no luck with manual IP either.

Any idea what I can do next to get it back to working condition?

Thanks!

Did you reset to factory defaults after flashing back to RMerlin firmware? You should always do a reset to factory defaults afterwards.

With AsusWRT or the forks thereof, 30-30-30 reset doesn't have any effect on Asus routers.

What manual IP did you try to test with?

Did you try downloading and using the Asus router recovery tool and following the steps exactly?

ASUS Firmware Restoration version 2.0.0.0
OS support: Windows XP/Vista/7/8/8.1/10

No, i did not do a factory reset after the rollback to asuswrt. Might that be the reason?

Yes, tried the guide and with the restore program in question.

Tried with pc as 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.10.

Tried pinging 192.168.1.1 but never any response.

30/30/30 dont work with Asus stock or merlin, it is for dd-wrt

Try this first
Press WPS button and power on the router, keep pressing WPS until led flash rapidly(10 sec approx), then release wps button and wait 3 min
Your nvram is clear now

Woo! That did the trick! It seems yet again I have not overcome my own impatience.

Thank you so much!
