i have recently purchased an Asus router to swap to from the sky hub. I have watched countless videos and read up and still can't get the internet on it. Do I need a separate modem and what other steps do I need to take. I have extracted the sky username and password using wireshark. Thanks in advance

Looks like a family affair :)

Hi, I have this setup on sky fibre. I use a vigor 130 modem and ac3200 running Merlin and haven't looked back.

I think @Shonk did a lot of investigation into this. I'm not sure what the final solution was though, or whether it was incorporated into the router's GUI. I believe you need to specify the clientid and vendorid. I think he posted the solution on the skyuser forums.

you can do it via telnet now on stock firmware as support is there for the dsl asus routers
just hidden in the gui for rt series if its in the nvram vars the asus builtin scripts parse it and works 100%

Code:
nvram set wan_clientid_type="0"
nvram set wan0_clientid_type="0"
nvram set wan_clientid="0123456789123@skydsl|12345678"
nvram set wan0_clientid="0123456789123@skydsl|12345678"
nvram set wan_vendorid="2.91.2110.R|001|SR102|A5001000000000"
nvram set wan0_vendorid="2.91.2110.R|001|SR102|A5001000000000"
nvram commit
reboot

I have this EXACT setup, you can't throw away the Sky Hub unless you use an Asus ADSL/VDSL router i.e. (AC68U). To use the AC66U instead just disable the Wi-Fi on the SR102, then setup the AC66U in AP Access Point mode, connect it to the Sky Hub with a network cable from the blue WAN port. Then setup your wireless channels etc, the SR102 then acts as DNS / Gateway plus ADSL/VDSL modem. You could buy a BT Openreach modem instead and use your logon details, but it's going to be no advantage, just keep the hub.
