Dear all, started 2 days ago using the addon in order to get adblocking on R7800. Addon install worked out fine. Running it also no problems. Starting Adguard is not working consistently. Using DNScrypt proxy v2 works great, fast and blocking ads. I had Adguard running yesterday, but a reboot this morning stopped it, and it won't run again. The selection jumps back to "None-not recommended". When checking router information it says:
Adguard Home port: 6060 port: 5300. DNS Servers: 5. Is installed but not running, but is on in nvram.

Finally got it working, thanks for the add-on! I used top in Putty to check for the running processes. It took a while for Adguard Home to start, sometimes it crashed. Pressing erase configuration and again starting via the menu helped. I could see the Adguard Home process starting to run and finally it was up and running. Now everything works great, but I did not yet try to reboot the router (still don't need to). Keep fingers crossed!
Thanks for everything, very helpful.
Cheers!

My R7800 router has been working very well with Voxel and Kamoj software.....Thanks to them for that ... hope you are both well.
I have changed from openvpn to wireguard and encountered a problem.I have ticked the setting for the network led to change to amber with loss of the internet.
Wireguard turns on ok and the network led is white and vpn status green.
When I click on router information button as the page opens the network led turns amber. and the error
Wireguard Client Status
vpn_dis_connect.jpg
ERROR wg0: No wg0 195.140.213.240 is shown
The wireguard status is still green and there no loss of internet.Turning wireguard off and back on and the network led turns white. This is the same on 3 different servers I have tried.
I enclose the log

I also have discovered on my router Netgear, R9000 that with the latest add-on b40 every time I do a reboot on the router Adguard Home does not start properly.
***UPDATE*** not sure if its the new version of AdGuard Home, but now everything works perfectly...

it will not start at times sometimes another reboot would fix it, and other times I would have to erase configuration reinstall, and it would work.

I am now trying DNSscrypt V2 with AdAway block list, but upon rebooting the router, the AdAway list will not update, and as a result ads would get in through the router I'll have to go in and manually click update list now. Anyone else having this problem?

The logs would show something like this:
Code:
[2024-03-03 06:05:03] [CRITICAL] Unable to retrieve source [relays]: [Get "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/DNSCrypt/dnscrypt-resolvers/master/v3/relays.md": dial tcp 185.199.111.133:443: connect: connection refused]
[2024-03-03 06:05:03] [FATAL] Get "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/DNSCrypt/dnscrypt-resolvers/master/v3/relays.md": dial tcp 185.199.111.133:443: connect: connection refused

Hi jberry,

The IP 185.199.111.133 belongs to github & githubusercontent, so from the log you show I'm not sure whether something on your router is blocking access to one of those domains or that IP. I know for a fact that the default AdGuard install blocks access to "githubusercontent.com".

Can you try to whitelist both "github.com" and "githubusercontent.com", then try to update the block lists again and report back?

When I was using DNScrypt V2 with AdAway block list, AdGuard Home was not running, it was actually uninstalled, so not sure what was blocking, all I can assume is when the router is booting up, wireguard client is trying to connect and at the same time its trying to update the AdAway block list, but since WG client is in the process of connecting the 185.199.111.133 connection doesn't complete.

aegis is blocking github, for whatever unknown reason, I had to whitelist some of github's IP addresses to work

For everyone using the excellent Aegis by @HELLO_wORLD and experiences issues or want to share tips, please use the Aegis thread, e.g.:
Aegis (simple yet effective protection)

For whitelistning of raw.githubusercontent.com and github.com you may e.g. create the file:
/opt/bolemo/etc/aegis-user.whitelist
containing:
Code:
#raw.githubusercontent.com:
185.199.108.133
185.199.109.133
185.199.110.133
185.199.111.133

#github.com:
140.82.121.0/24
140.82.112.4
140.82.114.3

and then restart Aegis.

Updated to latest Kamoj.
I tried the implemented aegis install (I normally did this manually). The github whitelist doesn't seem to work however, so did that manually again.
Other than this, all went smoothly! 😄

Testing Router Firmware Version (Voxel) V1.0.4.72HF and Kamoj Add-on V5.5b41
I do notice sometimes when I do a reboot on the R9000 AdGuardHome doesn't start, system log just shows it doesn't find AGH on 0.0.0.0:53 but other times its fine, will test this more later :)
Thank you for reporting!

When this happens, please run these commands and share the result:
Code:
sed -n '/^dns:/,/port:/p' /opt/kamoj/addons/defaults/AdGuardHome.yaml
nvram get lan_ipaddr

Thank you for reporting!
You are welcome! I apologize for the recording the system information log.

When this happens, please run these commands and share the result:
I did reboot 3 times just now, and AdGuard Home starts up with no issues / problems. I did accidently solve one problem I was having with AdGuard Home, every time I reboot, it always defaults back to the old 'Upstream DNS servers' I initially used. I always changed it to cloudflare, but after every reboot it goes back to Google DNS upstream servers (initial DNS servers I used), and would always have to change it. I fixed it by clicking 'Backup config to USB', with no USB attached, and rebooted the R9000 router, and it worked it saved the latest Upstream DNS servers of cloudflare, so that's fixed, and AGH starts every time hmmmmm.... I will execute the code if I ever notice AGH not start up, thanks again for another update @kamoj !! :)

I installed latest Voxel .73HF for R9000, reinstalled Kamoj b41 addon. Now AdGuard is not starting when I did a reboot:

I am guessing maybe another reboot is needed once AGH is activated, then it works after every reboot.

So not sure why AGH starts up most of the time, but also fails sometimes..... maybe the order of starting up? while WireGuard client is connecting???

Are you perhaps using Entware on your USB stick?

I had to lower the sleep in autorun/scripts/post-mount.sh

I had some kind of race condition between Entware script remounting a lot of folders from the usb-stick, vs the AGH starting up.
Lowering the sleep from 30 to 20 solved by issue.

Python:

kamoj-addon_240405-153039-5.5b41.md5
kamoj-addon_240405-153039-5.5b41_r9000.ipk

You need to remove the leading / from /kamoj-addon_240405.....
(now you say the files are in / instead of /tmp/mnt/sda1)

Or use the full path
