New Around Here
I made the mistake of enabling HTTPS authentication on an Asus RT-AC68U running Merlin's 3.0.0.4_378.50_0. Now, I cannot access the webGUI having tried
https://IP:8443 amonst other permutations. Have re-powered the router and computer, tried several different browsers (also clearing caches), and also tried from a second computer. All connections are hardwired via a switch.

The router is working fine, and I can even log onto the command line by using the IP address.

There are some other threads on this topic, but what I found seems to entail the nuclear approach of resetting and applying new settings. Is there any command I can use to change the authentication back to HTTP? What is causing the issue in the first place?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Code:
nvram set http_enable=2
nvram commit
service restart_httpd

Thanks very much! That did the trick.

I realized as well after doing a tracert from my computer's command line that there is a host name for the router. So https://router.asus.com:8443 also works.

By the way RMerlin, is there a summary somewhere of the router command line commands that can be used?

No. It's an actual complete operating system, so documenting these commands would fill up a whole book.
