Howdy folks,

UPDATE: alpha 3 build was uploaded for the RT-AC3100, which should resolve its webui issues.

Firmware build 380.57 alpha 2 is available for the RT-AC88U and RT-AC3100 (in the Beta folders on download sites). Despite being labeled as alpha, these builds should be stable - they aren't considered beta yet because there are a number of things I have planned for the final 380.57 release which haven't been implemented yet.

One of those new features that has been implemented already is the ability to backup and restore the content of the JFFS partition through the web interface (same page where you can backup/restore your settings). Note that rebooting your router is usually recommended after you have restored the content of the JFFS partition, as services that rely on its content (OpenVPN, Traffic Analyzer, etc...) are NOT automatically restarted to use the restored content.

Based on GPL 3.0.0.4.380_858, this build includes full support for these new models, which means GameBoost and LACP are also supported.

Downloads are here.

Too early to say yet, I don't know.

Of course it's too early to say, but from a software development standpoint, Asus will want all their currently supported routers to share a common code base as much as possible, so this will most likely happen pretty soon (month or two). I havent diffed the code base yet to know how different 378 and 380 are. I just hope their bug-fixing focus on the older routers doesn't get sidelined for too long because they are busy supporting the newer models. (Any other mass-market consumer router company would have ditched support for the older models long ago, so Kudos to Asus in that regard. It's a strong reason not to jump ship from their user base for another mass-market consumer model. This could change, unfortunately, but so far so good.)

Hold on... Are you saying that LACP is supported from the Web interface on these two routers!?

Yes. There is an option in the web interface for LACP. The option is under the LAN -> Switch Control. The option either enables or disables bonding / link aggregation.

This RT-AC88U is going to replace my RT-AC66R.

Check your syslog for any error message. The JFFS partition should always automount at boot, it's no longer possible to disable it through the webui.

Yes. It's proprietary support provided by Broadcom, so it's once again closed source. 'cause the whole world is desperately trying to steal every single line of code Broadcom writes, which would drive them out of business. Cause their code is REVOLUTIONARY! </sarcasm>

Parental controls are not working. Specifically content category. I can still get to bad websites on my kids kindle.

I've noticed that devices that I had limited through time scheduling could still connect as well. This was happening on stock also so I don't think it's a Merlin related issue.

Works for me. Just tested it by enabling Adult filtering to my desktop, and accessing the Playboy website resulted in the blocked page notification.

Time schedule works but not the bad sites. I tried it numerous times on different devices. When ever I make the change this is what the log says:

did you test this on the 88u? I have the 3100.

Yes, and they both use the exact same Trend Micro components. Code-wise, the two firmware are in fact nearly identical, aside from the addition of a second Realtek switch for the AC88U.

Thanks rmerlin. I ended switching to Open DNS because it would not work on my 3100 router.

I uploaded an alpha3 build for the RT-AC3100, which should resolve its webui-related issues.
