Hello Merlin! I find myself obsessively checking your website for new releases... and I'm probably not the only one?

I was wondering if you might consider publishing your plans, status, or progress on future versions? Are you planning on regular releases, or are you done until there's a new Asus release? Can you maybe tell us what you're working on?

Is there any kind of mailing list to be updated on releases?

Thanks again for all your great work!

Oh boy, I think you're going to get some 'not so nice' replies from users here.

In general, when people like rmerlin do work like this FOR FREE, in their SPARE TIME, it's considered rude to ask when the next version will be released.

Visiting this forum is the main easy way to find out about new releases.

I doubt that most users of this software would like for RMerlin to spend time writing speculations about unknowable things such as when something may or may not happen in the future. Consider that this software project is based on and is to improve and embellish upon Asus corporation router software, rather than to create entirely new router software. Thus a major portion of the Merlin project is not in Merlin's control, making the timing of Merlin updates especially unpredictable.

The main point is that many of us do not want RMerlin to have to both (a) work on software and (b) furthermore write speculative posts about when a new release may or may not be published. Put another way, speculative posts about the future are in the realm of entertainment rather than usefulness, and most of us would prefer that RMerlin not be tasked with entertainment duties.

What would be cool though is to link releases to a rss feed or email notification so people know when something comes using git.

Does anyone with more experience with github know how/if one could subscribe to notification of a new "tag" which would indicate a beta or release?

Why not just go to the main thread, second post?

http://www.snbforums.com/threads/asuswrt-merlin-custom-firmware-for-asus-routers.7846/#post-61974

Now all you have to do is simply check once a week or so.

http://asuswrt.lostrealm.ca/changelog

And if you miss the initial rollout of a new RMerlin firmware; no problem. Others will have tested it for you by then and you can make an informed choice of whether to install it or not. :)

PoloNes, I would not use third party links for anything as important as router firmware. At least not when the source links are alive and well.

This link I found on Merlin's own website.

Mediafire supports RSS feeds. That feature keeps appearing and disappearing from their website however, but right now it seems to be back. That way you can monitor either your specific router model, or the root that contains the README and the Changelog.

You can also create a free account, and tell Mediafire to watch specific folders for any change.

My current release plan is complicated enough as it is, I'm not going to add additional steps to it - there are plenty of ways to be notified already.

Github is filled with undocumented (or hidden) features.

This seems nifty too. Sync all my starred repos and get release notifications and/or digests in email.
