The latest firmware wants you to allow remote access from wan to enable certain features (Alexa, ifttt). Is this safe to do now that there is a let’s encrypt certificate? I’ve always stayed away from this as I don’t want to subject my network to any intrusion or risks. I would like to use these new features but if it is not safe it is not worth it.

Thanks

That doesn't provide any additional security, only that it removes the browser warning over https.

Personally, I wouldn't trust Asuswrt's httpd server exposed to the Internet.

Thank you so much. Would there be any other method to get Alexa and/or ifttt support without exposing the router to remote login?

No idea, I'm not familiar with either of them (and personally feel they do not belong in a security device such as a router).
