New Around Here
I'm on the latest Merlin firmware 380.58. I am also having an issue where the router woudl crash about every 10 days. I noticed my log and it has multiple DHCP requests and acknowledgements for the same device. Why is this happening and could this cause the crashes?

I'm on the latest Merlin firmware 380.58. I am also having an issue where the router woudl crash about every 10 days. I noticed my log and it has multiple DHCP requests and acknowledgements for the same device. Why is this happening and could this cause the crashes?

There's nothing wrong with those DHCP syslog messages, you can simply stop them showing, just disable it via WEBUI. LAN => DHCP Server => Hide DHCP/RA queries (YES).

I wonder why "so many" users reporting that exact same issue (every 10 days crashing) on 380.58 FW with RT-AC88U, i'm using the same FW code base and not even a single issue ever:

Uptime 23 days 9 hours 2 minute(s) 42 seconds

Have you RESET it after flashing?

Ok thanks, I thought it was probably normal but I didnt see it before in the logs when I was on 380.57. But this issue also happens on 380.57. I emailed Asus support and will ask for a replacement.

Btw I did the clear NVRAM command using telnet after installing the firmware and then even reset it using the GUI. Does pressing the button do something differently?

Simply do it, i've seen that happening before with several users, nvram cleaned via terminal and via webui and the router still couldnt keep stable for more than some days... After using HW button instructions all issues went away and the problem was solved, don't ask me why this happens, but it's not the first time and will not be the last for sure, in doubt always give it a try and configure it manually from scratch not using any old configuration file.

FYI, after this procedure being followed i always had a positive feedback from the users with uptimes of 30 days, this is still a "big mistery" to me either...

nvram erase only works after a commit after, it could be a user mistake, but via WEBUI theres no margin for user errors at all...

It has been happening now more frequently, now every 1-5 days. I noticed that the LAN light on the router turns off when the issue is occurring (all other lights are on and normal). So after this I ended up pressing the reset button as you said and inputted all my settings manually again. I'll let you know if it occurs again.

:)

Swap out that Surface Pro for a MacBook Air, and you'll be right as rain ;)

Just kidding - this is kind of a known issue with DNSMasq and various clients...
