I recently installed a Intel 210 card in my laptop for the garage
Im on channel 40 @ 5 Ghz set to 40/80/160
When the laptop connects it sets @ 160Mhz
My S22 Ultra will also connect @160 verified in the wifi log of the 86u
But when the laptop is turned off, the phone will not go to 160. Rather stays at 80
I can be standing next to the 86U and still only 80.
fire up the laptop and CH 40 goes to 160
Just curious as to why ?
Thanks

Is the phone sleeping?

'Right next to the router' is too close.

Test from 3 metres or greater.

Either way, handheld devices prioritize power savings, not performance.

Got that.
I move to 10 feet away and still no love.
It very well could be the phone inpower

Thanks L&LD
Looks like power savings mode on s22Ultra was the cause.
It's locking in @160 now that I disabled that.

So after further trouble shooting.
Power settings really had no effect. The one thing that made a big difference was locking the channel and then checking behavior.
I found that locking ch 48 as control worked in my environment. My s22 ultra and my tab 7 tablet now look on @ 160 mhz. My rokus and other ac clients lock on at 80 mhz. I'll play this out a few days. Then maybe try other channels to see behavior. The lost or dropped 160mhz prior was on ch 40 .....

It may be that the power setting does make a difference. It's just that as a handheld device, it still can't sustain that kind of power/heat draw for forever.
