New Around Here
Here is my setup:
- main router in the basement, AC66U running merlin-wrt.
- secondary router center of house AC56U running merlin-wrt.
- I have cat6 running from main router LAN to secondary router LAN
I would like to use use the secondary router as a gigabit switch and a wifi repeater. I have the former working fine, secondary router dhcp disabled and is talking to the main router fine.
I am not sure where to get the WiFi connected. Giving both routers the same SSID doesn't work because devices don't tend to try and connect to a stronger signal until their current one is completely lost.
I tried WDS setup. Put the routers MACs into each others the AP list and set 2.4GHZ to WDS. This yielded an error message in the system log as well as the WiFi disappearing, "wds received packet with own address as source address". I think this is because I am trying to WDS with WPA2.
Anyway, all tips welcome.
