Hello,

I'm using AC66U with Merlin's 380.59 firmware.
I configured SSH tunnel with public key authentication. The problem is that it disconnects randomly. When it disconnects I don't have internet on all other computers in my network and can't log to on to the router. It looks like the WAN is down for few seconds. This is what I have in log:
May 24 10:22:25 dropbear[1378]: Pubkey auth succeeded for 'admin' with key md5 97:d4:a4:eb:0d:45:46:26:66:85:45:14:ad:85:dd:f3 from 5.172.252.241:5649
May 24 10:22:48 dropbear[1376]: Exit before auth: Exited normally
May 24 10:30:25 dropbear[1378]: Exit (admin): Error reading: Connection timed out
May 24 10:31:02 dropbear[1388]: Child connection from 5.172.252.241:15914
May 24 10:31:12 dropbear[1388]: Pubkey auth succeeded for 'admin' with key md5 97:d4:a4:eb:0d:45:46:26:66:85:45:14:ad:85:dd:f3 from 5.172.252.241:15914

What I did:
- SSH tunnel on my NAS is working fine
- I used PuTTY and Bitvise as a client - on both disconnects
- try different values for keepalive(0, 10, 60) on client side - doesn't change anything
- "enable TCP keepalives" - doesn't change anything
- MTU on my desktop is 1500
- probably found the end of internet during my research ;-)

Thank you for help.

ps
Merlin is doing great job :)

I have the same issue.
AC66R. was running 380.59 but just updated to 380.61 with no improvement.

I have ssh key authentication for a few clients and have been having very intermittent issues. Sometimes it'll work for weeks without issue. Sometimes I cannot ssh at all. I receive a simple "Connection timed out" through putty.

Ive tried disabling all firewalls, disabling ssh brute force protection, but nada. I definitely have not been able to troubleshoot to your level, but figure i can at least help grab some traction on the issue. To me, it would appear (though i've no way to check) that the ssh service is stopping on the router, though reboot sometimes does not help either.

please let me know if you've found anything or have anyway i can help / compare configuration.

Unfortunately, I did not find the solution for this. I have installed the ssh server on my NAS and had no issue :).
