Well my friends, I have to admit it; has been almost 2 months without issues.

Note:

My download, when it comes to the net on any recorded show or better yet, the Live shows are fast and steady. No lag from my end. I don't promote this products, but for a simple person, like myself. Who is always stirring for better quality and performance this ADSL adapter made a difference. All the wiring upgrades, so far made in this house are made only for excellence, performance and quality.

Enjoy...

Thats great. Using a good modem helps to get good sync rates on DSL. How much did the overhaul cost for you in total?
Also when you say gigabyte WAN modem do you mean the brand gigabyte or that the router has gigabit ethernet ports?

Overall around 275 dollars. . The router was the most expensive item. Shipping for the router was free.

Actually I'm doing another identical project for my son, exact setup and he is buying all the hardware, including the same identical router. My whole family at home is please with the upgrades. Yes! he is buying my coffee and lunch.

Enjoy

Well, I have to admitted and frankly everything is doing good, except the weather which is cold! and you cant control that.

cold weather may good for copper speeds.
One very importact fact is that the improvement to your internet is because of having a good router/modem and good wiring including all the other effort you put in. The gigabit ports dont do anything to help and the rj11 port runs at 100Mb/s max if using vdsl.

Definitely cool weather does good to those heat sinks.

I did finished my sons adsl splitter upgrades on his apartment with excellent results.
The local ISP started to offer Fiber optic service to those upgrading to fiber this summer, which is about 35 miles from the farm. For know all we have is ADSL, I told him: If he decides to upgrade, take your time with it, study it, and decide wisely, we all live withing our own personal budget. We have a 2 year individual contract with the same ISP, I have no idea, how this upgrades will affect your current contract. Be careful.

My son replied: He understood my concern and it is noted.
System Error

I'm using ADSL not VDSL
The rj-11 is only used to connect your phone via the ADSL splitter. Nothing more.

Have you try to improve and test your MTU? It works beautiful in my Gigabit LAN and WAN.
I started to ping my other LAN computers and my maximum was 9000. Meaning all my PC nick cards, switch and the TP-link ADSL router internally works.
but once you start ping outside, into the WWW then is when your ISP ADSL protocols takes over. My ISP uses PPPoA.
I was able to tweaked the MTU settings on my TP-LINK ADSL router and my PC OS to 1530. Default settings are between 1450 and 1500.

If you read the Cisco Forum and many other ADSL forums you will understand how it works.

I am able to use an MTU of 10K on LAN but my ISP, being as weird as it is prevents it. Since my ISP does NAT i have to use the standard MTU. My router however supports an MTU of 65k but not on ethernet.

Larger MTU means more data in less packets so less CPU and slightly more throughput but it doesnt affect ping unless you try giving a large packet.

I understand how MTU works and it doesnt have anything to do with the port's throughput so the gigabit ethernet port isnt a factor.

fibre optic is a big improvement, going for it is actually better as you can eliminate the analogue part of data transmission and you can get better speeds. It really depends on the monthly cost and what you would need but your router would already support it, so you would just need a modem.

If you want a modemless fibre optic than you will need a router with SFP and the SFP module for it.

Ill said that metrofiber will reach my area in 2-3 more years. It is about population density! You are right about the pricing! Currently according to the ISP promotional flyers is a combination of google fiber and Verizon, not that I'm a fan of them, but I hope is affordable. After all, it is a Government funded project.

The good thing the state repaved all the secondary roads before winter and the ADSL residential cabling was upgraded by the ISP. Yet all that was our tax money. Some of the rural school areas were retrofitted to VDSL and new computers which replaced 12 year old PC. All government grant money.

I still hear every night the howling of the barn owls and plenty to watch deer. Once in a while a coyote with a cell phone, just joking..
