Hi guys,
Being on the fourth date, after upgrading my RT-N66U to Merlin's 374.32, I suddenly "lost" Web GUI.
Neither Firefox nor IE are able to connect anymore to router's page 192.168.1.1.
Rebooting router and/or PC was in vain. Despite this, everything else seems working (I can browse Internet, Lan is working, I can access router with ssh, etc).
Any ideas and/or remedy?

Regards

Out of curiosity have you tried another browser that you've never connected to the router on before? To take possible cache and stuff out of the equation?

Double check that you have the correct IP.

If you enabled HTTPS, then you must use https://ip:8443 (unless you changed the port from the default 8443 value)

If you entered an IP access list on the System page, then you will have to ensure that the client is one of those IPs.

Otherwise, you will need either telnet or SSH access to fix your access. If you didn't enable either of them, then it's time for a factory default reset I'm afraid.

No I didn't. I am always using Firefox and for the past 1,5 years I didn't have any problem with RT-N66U and all Merlin goodies.

Dear Merlin,
I DO have the correct IP. Actually after rebooting router it asks my credentials to login but then nothing.
I don't have an access list and as I told, I am able to ssh the router. Apart rebooting, I have even restarted httpd but still nothing.
I am open to suggestions.
Many thanks

If you get as far as getting a login screen, then it seems like either a browser issue, or you have a forward rule that's overriding the webui.

How did you restart the httpd BTW? httpd tries to use web pages from its current directory, so you can't just run the process from anywhere.

Hi again and many many thanks for bothering.

Just some info for your better understanding:
1. For the past 7 months I was using 270.26b without any problem and with no special configuration (apart from system log redirection to a log server and dhcp static client list).
2. Last Saturday, I upgraded RT-N66U towards 374.32 (having following instructions i.e. clear nvram, restore to factory, upgrade etc)
3. Everything was, and still IS, working perfectly as even now I am having access to my LAN, to WAN, I can ssh, etc.
4. Yesterday, I was navigating to GUI pages in order to familiarize myself with the new goodies of yours, when suddenly Firefox stops responding (router's pages were not loading).
5. I reboot, the router (manually and through ssh). I reset my PC. I used IE instead of Firefox. I used in turn all my LAN PCs (6), one laptop, even my mobile. ZERO. I sshed, run "service restart_httpd". NOTHING.

So this is the deal.
In your previous post you mentioned that if I am having access with ssh maybe there is something that I can do. Is that so? or my solution is to start from the beginning?

Cheers

Try resetting a few settings to their factory default values:

Code:
nvram set http_clientlist=""
nvram unset http_enable
nvram set https_enable=0
nvram set https_lanport=8443
nvram set webdav_https_port=443
nvram set http_client=0
nvram set misc_http_x=0
nvram commit
service restart_httpd

Try again. If it still fails, I recommend trying with a different computer or device to rule out a local issue. Could be related to a browser plugin, browser security, or a security software (I have heard of security suites such as AVG accidentally blocking connections to a router).
