Notification on wan failover? SNMP trap or other?

Considering using WAN failover to a tethered USB device in case network goes down. One concern is that my main broadband link will go down, but i'm unaware because of the failover. Is there a way to be notified of the failover? My thinking is that some sort of SNMP trap would be good - if...

WAN DNS Setting DNS order Server1 / Server2

Can anyone tell me what the usage logic is between Server1 and Server2 in the WAN DNS Setting menu? Are they used round-robin, or is Server1 used unless not contactable then Server2 used - or something else? Thanks.

    Update mac vendor list? oui.txt

Had a quick look. Seems I have to do a full factory reset, and then upgrade via the restoration tool. Let me think about it - sounds like a complete drag :p Just curious - after the reset - will it load a config backup, or will I have to do that from scratch too?

    Update mac vendor list? oui.txt

If it supports the N66U - didn't know it existed :). I'll look into it, though I was going to upgrade my router soon-ish. Unsure if I will go for another Asus, or just go down the pfsense route and ubiquiti access points.

That's the file - thanks! Newb question - how do I make that FS read-write so I can update the file?

    Update mac vendor list? oui.txt

I'm on 380.70 on an n66u - yes, i know old old, out of support etc.. I was just wondering if there was a way to update the mac vendor list as shown in the client list. Normally one a *ix system you would update oui.txt - but I don't see a file like that on Merlin. No biggie if it cannot be...

    Wireguard implementation?

I know what a kernel is - i've been doing Unix for 30 years. WireGuard doesn't have to be in the kernel to work. As for changing the answer given - it may or it may not. I think it depends on the level of effort. If it means kernel changes - yeah, zero chance unless ASUS release it. If it...

    Wireguard implementation?

Yes but it means it has become mainstream. https://www.zdnet.com/google-amp/article/vpns-will-change-forever-with-the-arrival-of-wireguard-into-linux/

    WireGuard on Merlin?

Thanks - I did do a search, but nothing came up. My bad.

    WireGuard on Merlin?

Any chance of seeing this - or do we need to wait for ASUS to implement it?

Upgrading from N66U to AC86U a good move?

Yeah, i've had this little router for a long long time. It has paid for itself - and is still going strong but I have an itch for an upgrade. It is no longer supported by the latest Merlin updates, and it has a tendency to stop accepting new connections requiring a reboot. Not the end of the...

Power supply advice - need something reliable.

Hello I hope this is the right area to post. I'm getting a bit tired of regularly replacing my 12v power supplies on all my home networking devices. I could of course go onto eBay and buy more of these things - but they all seem to be an unknown quantity/quality. I'd much rather buy a...

    Upgrade from 374.43 to latest

Thanks. It seems that for the N66U it is only in the Beta directory. Anyhow the deed is done, and while it appeared to work OK without clearing NVRAM, I did so anyhow. It certainly feels faster in the GUI - and I hope to use some of the new features - thank you for your help!

    Upgrade from 374.43 to latest

Thanks. I'm not looking forward to this - so many tweaks and small changes everywhere. Is there a way to export the config in XML or some other human readable format? If not i'm going to have to do screenshots of each config page to refer to. The latest release 380.58 does appear to be...
