Release ASUS RT-AX86U Pro Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_34406 2025/10/28

Did a factory reset via the UI followed by the WPS method, QiS required 10+ char password and uPnP was indeed disabled. Otherwise all working fine as far as I can tell so far.

    RT-AX86U Pro abandoned?

If they are pushing security updates it would be nice to see what has been pushed and installed on the router. I’m not to concerned about the lack of firmware updates provided my router is secure against current threats, if that’s achieved through security updates then so be it. Otherwise my...

News ASUS Product Security Advisory - ASUS Router AiCloud vulnerability (01/02/2025)

Is this a new exploit, or does this relate to the vulnerabilities already disclosed last month?

    Release AX86U Pro Firmware version 3.0.0.6_102_34336 (2024/11/12)

I get this as well, restarting the router results in the same, it’s been the same for many firmware versions and mentioned previously. Not a major issue, but annoying all the same. Thankfully the router is rock solid for me, so rare that I need to restart it.

    Release ASUS RT-AX86U Pro Firmware version 3.0.0.6_102_34312 - 2024/05/09

So do many poisons ;) Hopefully most of the worst bugs have been quashed in the beta and across the other devices the 3.0.0.6 release has been on. I’ll likely update sooner than later simply because I like trying new things.

    Release ASUS RT-AX86U Pro Firmware version 3.0.0.6_102_34312 - 2024/05/09

For a major version the release notes feel awfully light, I’ll wait a few days before upgrading.

    AX86U dead (no power)

My AX86U died around May last year whilst watching the Champions League final, same problem the unit failed to power on. Asus agreed it was dead and Amazon issued a full refund without argument, I replaced it with the Pro model.

Does it make sense to have AiProtection enabled?

The best defence is common sense, at home and work I I follow a simple policy of defence in depth, enabling AiProtectionPro is simple and has very little over head and may well protect you from that one attack you didn’t spot, to me makes sense to enable it and see how it performs for you.

    Does AiProtection really work?

How do the updates for AIProtection work, on occasion I've had to check for updates manually as it doesn't always refresh, or maybe it works on some other schedule? And what do they contain, my understanding was that the router takes the DNS query and sends it to TrendMicro for analysis or does...

RT-AX86U Pro, Smart Connect, Pin Device to Band.

I have a AX86U Pro configured with Smart Connect, is it possible to pin certain devices to specific bands (5G, 2.4G) to stop them potentially being shunted between the two, or is the only way to turn off Smart Connect and configure each band individually? Thanks in advance.

    Release ASUS RT-AX86 Series(RT-AX86U/RT-AX86S) Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.20566

Fantastic, been waiting for this release I’ll update when I get home and do a full reset/setup.

    Asus Router app, Account Binding.

Yes, I also noticed that WAN access was enabled along with the app, I also turned it off. Otherwise I’m still to work out the benefit of it, it doesn’t replace the standard router logIn or link It to a cloud account, so why have it.

    Asus Router app, Account Binding.

I’ve been taking a look at the Asus Router app for iOS and one of things it allows you to do is to bind your Google account (in my case) to my router, but I can’t seem to find any explanation as to what it does, does anyone have any info?

    Release ASUS RT-AX86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.46061 (2022/01/11)

A supply chain attack would be my biggest fear with any sort of auto firmware update, I know you were only joking but I seem to recall Asus were caught out with something like this a few years back with updates to their Live Update software.
