YazFi - enhanced AsusWRT-Merlin Guest WiFi inc. SSID <-> VPN Client

If you have more than one Pi-Hole running don't use Force DNS. When that option is enabled if DNS 1 goes down, devices may not be able to gain internet access even though you are using a second DNS entry in the settings. See the reply to a post I made about that very issue a couple of weeks ago...

Yes you will typically need to fill in the DNS fields with what ever DNS servers you plan on using depending on the ASUS router's options. That could be the DNS servers used by your broadband provider. That could be public DNS servers like those listed in the following link...

Only two questions about your settings that I see is; do you need the One Way to Guest option enabled? If so why? And do you need Client Isolation disabled? If so why?

No, that is incorrect. If you do not want your IoT devices to communicate (other than DNS, if running your own DNS server like Pi-Hole) with the main LAN clients, then set both Two way to guest and One way to guest to NO. If you need to have the guest IoT devices communicate with each other then...

Understood. More I think about it, I would think using the Force DNS option would appear to negate the need for a DNS 2 entry, if I understand how things operate correctly. Which sort of leads back to maghuro's question made earlier today about being required to enter a value in the DNS 2 field...

Ah yes. Thanks that would explain it. Had DNS 1 (a Pihole) go down and was pulling my hair out trying to figure out why things were not rolling over to DNS 2. LOL Thanks.

@Jack Yaz This may have already been discussed, but one thing I'm finding is that when DNS 1 is down (not accessable) even though there is a second (different) DNS 2 value input the guest clients on YazFi complain that there isn't an internet connection. Once DNS 1 comes back online YazFi guest...

Updated. :-) One minor niggle that may bother some folks. The GUI on my AC68U however still shows 4.1.2. Don't really care but others might. LOL

@Jack Yaz Noticed from time to time when performing an update to the YazFi script, I occasionally get an MD5 hash does not match warning. Doesn't happen every time the script is updated, but happens every now and then. Any particular cause or thing to look at in order to ensure the MD5 hash...

YazFi - enhanced AsusWRT-Merlin Guest WiFi inc. SSID <-> VPN Client

Was just curious as that other person's post got me wondering. LOL Only reasons I can think of would be to have the ability to use fixed/static IP addresses or just a general IP address that are in the main pool, and I assume would then be picked up by the network map section, where as...

YazFi - enhanced AsusWRT-Merlin Guest WiFi inc. SSID <-> VPN Client

Forcing the update did the trick. GUI pages loads now. :) On a different subject, it's I think been asked in the past about guests using IP addresses from the main pool of IP addresses like the Asus/Merlin Guest settings typical use (when YazFi is not installed). User SammyG inquired about it...

YazFi - enhanced AsusWRT-Merlin Guest WiFi inc. SSID <-> VPN Client

@Jack Yaz After updating to 4.1.1 on a RT-AC68U running Merlin 384.17, noticed the YazFi GUI page/tab now looks like the attached screen shot. It has the text; "Feature expansion of guest WiFi networks on AsusWRT-Merlin." and an Apply button. Should users be selecting the Apply button in order...
