Solved AC68 new release today 05.21.2021 File is very large / Problem?

Thanks for researching this. I came here with the exact same question.

so many models of AX router...

Is there some sensible reason ASUS offers, not counting color choice, 12 different models of AX router? (And this is without the 6E product which isn't yet in the ASUS US product finder.) Maybe it's just me, but this seems like a crazy number of designs to maintain, produce, support, and keep...

    RT-AC68U + RP-AC55 mesh node: connections though RP-AC55 unstable

I never did test propagation of my guest net in RP-AC55 mesh mode. I was a bit surprised--foolishly, I'd never researched its capability vs this requirement--when I was testing it in extender mode to discover that you could only setup one SSID per frequency band to extend. (I suspect this is all...

    RT-AC68U + RP-AC55 mesh node: connections though RP-AC55 unstable

Why I haven't wasted my time playing Support Tango with them. Support is only useful if you don't know how to use a company's product, never if that company's product is just broken. Support is never designed to help identify and fix defects, only to identify and fix clueless customers.

    RT-AC68U + RP-AC55 mesh node: connections though RP-AC55 unstable

So many reports of these kinds of problems with the RP-AC55 and so few updates--it does make me wonder why ASUS is not getting with the program here. Do they just not know this is not a stable solution?

    RT-AC68U + RP-AC55 mesh node: connections though RP-AC55 unstable

So I tried giving up on AiMesh and using this as a repeater. A different set of problems ensued. But stability did not. I've come to the conclusion that the money spent on the RP-AC55 was wasted and have turned it off. Stability for all the fixed devices in that end of the house, even if at...

    RT-AC68U + RP-AC55 mesh node: connections though RP-AC55 unstable

Well, with that update, the connection stability of nodes associated with the RP-AC55 is, maybe, better. But it still sucks.

    RT-AC68U + RP-AC55 mesh node: connections though RP-AC55 unstable

Thanks for the reply. Glad to know it's not just me or something unique to my environment. I check for updates frequently so eventually I would have found that one. But, oddly enough, the router DID NOT find it this morning. I downloaded and installed it manually. Hopefully, it does what it...

    RT-AC68U + RP-AC55 mesh node: connections though RP-AC55 unstable

Does anybody here have experience using the RP-AC55 as a mesh node with an RT-AC68U? I have this configuration, both devices with latest firmware (RT-AC68U: 3.0.0.4.385_20633-g593a8ef / RP-AC55: 3.0.0.4.384_81156-gb025564), with wireless backhaul between the router and the node, and the devices...

"Reminder: The System time zone is different from your locale setting."

Thanks for that specific explanation of what's going on here. That's what I couldn't find in my searches about this issue. Yes, browser is reportedly asserting "GMT-1000 (Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time)" and router only knows "(GMT-10:00) Hawaii". So if they are trying to compare, textually...

"Reminder: The System time zone is different from your locale setting."

Env: RT-AC68U / ASUSWRT 3.0.0.4.384_21045 What does this message even mean? Where are there two different time zone settings? I only see a system one. Where is there a "locale setting" time zone? My system time zone is correctly set to (GMT-10:00) Hawaii. There are no DST settings to set...

    [OFFICIAL] RT-AC68U 3.0.0.4.382.18881

Clearly they have problems dealing with otherwise perfectly legal PSKs. They operate the WiFi with them fine but the GUI gags up. Properly encoding strings of arbitrary characters is HTML 101. Rather than re-key dozens of devices that use the existing key, I found a workaround to these ASUS...

    User NVRAM Save/Restore Utility (R26.2)

One thing I observed while using the 26.2 scripts against an RT-AC68U running 3.0.0.4.382_18881: The setting Administration | System | USB Setting | Enable HDD Hibernation = On did not restore. This may be a new setting. I'm not sure when it showed up.

    [OFFICIAL] RT-AC68U 3.0.0.4.382.18881

More results: This is key sensitive. I tried my SSID and a key of 63 "a"s. No problem. But when I use my key, problem. My key includes all the following characters, but not in this order: ''-----!"""#....@@_______001225666778ABdfFFhhilnNoopqrRsTUwWxzZ

    [OFFICIAL] RT-AC68U 3.0.0.4.382.18881

Yes, I've flushed Chrome's cache and tried alternate browsers/platforms that don't usually administer the router. I tried a reset followed by just admin account/password (even Wireless left defaults/open) and the GUI problems described above were gone. But after an nvram-restore, from an...
