Help catching up on the latest advice for WiFi in a new home

Cable runs were not a viable solution form me. In the end I opted for Tenda av1000 ph6 powerlines (Broadcom chips work the best for me with zero drop outs). Feeding three Linksys LAPAC2600 AP's on each floor. I used a Wifi analyser app on my mobile to first do a survey. It help me find the dead...

Redirecting all DNS Requests to pfSense

Thanks, I did try that too as a test, and weirdly that didnt work either. The windows machine still used Google DNS. I'm at a loss to see why, I have also reset states and that makes no difference.

    pfSense computer bulid

I'm a home user not a network admin for a company, and have been using pfsense for many years with pfblocker and snort, together with multiple VPNs and VLAN's, apart from the initial setting up and tweaking when adding any new lists, it rarely needs touching for day to day use. Its no big...

Need help with ipv6 & Rt-Ac88u with BT Smarthub 2 (SOLVED)

Well it would be a drop of 80MB down and 10MB up. At the end of the day they have put you in a position where you need to trade some speed with functionality. It seems like a bizzare stance from BT....but come to think of it, that's why I dropped them years ago ;)

Need help with ipv6 & Rt-Ac88u with BT Smarthub 2 (SOLVED)

I use Plusnet at home, on their 80/20 package and get 76/18. Granted im 300M away from the box but are you a very long way away? My understanding is G.fast is upto 100MB via Copper lines? TBH would you drop that much speed without it?

So a quick look shows that the MT992 is a locked down version by Openreach with their custom firmware. Are you not on a Virgin area? If it was me and they wouldn't supply me with a replacement modem, I would walk!

That sounds totally crazy, what sort of business practice is this? Sell a product then be unable or unwilling to supply support.

We dont have G.fast in my area, it appears to run some optimizing software? Not much use if you are tied to their own crappy equipment with limited features.

Can you not buy a cheap modem off Ebay? Just replace it and business as usual?
