Finally Sick of UBNT. Need AP -Without- Corp. Network

You are wrong sir. Or Engenius is wrong as this is what I got from them including links to the FCC filings. ews377ap v1 is obviously the original version and using Qualcomm IPQ8072. ews377ap v2 fixed a potential bug with the 2.5gb port only running at 1gb internally. ews377ap v3 has more ram...

Between TP-Link and Engenius, who supports their APs the longest?

The driving issue is obviously cost. They also want WiFi 6 as every primary device owned is WiFi 6. I personally run EAP245s, which I've never had issues with. Granted the older v1 hardware hasn't had a firmware update in 2yrs and is no longer compatible with Omada. And the biggest complaint...

Between TP-Link and Engenius, who supports their APs the longest? In terms of firmware updates at least?

opportunity to build home wifi network form scratch - advice?

EdgeOS has a GUI, anything you'd do in a home environment can be done via the GUI in EdgeOS. It does have a CLI which the Unifi products do not. So you can do even more than what is allowed in the GUI on the EdgeOS devices.

opportunity to build home wifi network form scratch - advice?

There is a Unifi app for Android (it's how I originally setup my UAP-AC-LRs), I'm not sure about iOS. All of this info is direct from ubnt's site. UAP-AC-Lite = 2x2 radio for both 2.4ghz and 5ghz so speeds are 300/867. Power is 20db for both 2.4 and 5ghz. UAP-AC-LR = 3x3 radio for 2.4ghz and...

Realtek based USB Wireless AC speeds

For Broadcom we only found two drivers that work consistently for us for both USB and PCI-E devices in Windows 10. For the USB devices using realtek chipsets we could not find any combination of drivers (realtek and usb 3.x) that worked in our environment (across a little less than 100 machines...

Realtek based USB Wireless AC speeds

Is anyone getting anywhere near AC speeds using any of the realtek based USB adapters in USB 3.x slots on Windows 10? We are doing some testing on ac adapters and ap's in our environment. For whatever reason, every single adapter we have that is realtek based and USB 3.0 fails to get above...

Replacement for the Cisco WAP321 Wireless Units

You can also use the Ubiquiti Android app. Also, the "server" does not always have to be running. You can simply install it on your pc if need be and only launch it if you want to adopt/upgrade/change any settings on the AP's. Forgot the rest of my post here, lol. We have been testing...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.54_2 is now available

Changing loopback from Merlin to Asus fixed this in the 378_54_1 release for me. I'm having another issue though, about to try the 378_54_2 release, but wireless clients are constantly stating that more login information may be required.

    Looking for new 802.11n router

Which DD-WRT build exactly? I never had luck with DD-WRT on any of my TL-WR1043ND (I have 3 of them).

    ASUS RT-N56U or ASUS RT-N66U?

I've recently had the N65, N66 and AC66 in my house at the same time. Maybe I somehow got duds (I did exchange the N65 and N66 once each, so I had 2 of each in my house at a point) but they have all been returned. And these were all compared against a wndr3700v1 running Gargoyle that is slowly...

Anyone go from a WNDR3700v1 to an N66U

I don't know what to say, other then the results are repeatable. Maybe I got a dud N66U. Just in case it was a power wart issue I used the one that came with my N65U, same results (and the power warts look the same and have the same power specs). wndr3700v1 /w Gargoyle custom build Apr 8th...

Anyone go from a WNDR3700v1 to an N66U

I always do speedtests, or any testing in general from my desktops which are intel gigabit nics > cat6 > unmanaged enterprise gigabit switches > router

Anyone go from a WNDR3700v1 to an N66U

So, I have an N66U now. I have tried every Asus firmware, have tried the last couple of Merlin's, including the beta. About to try shibby's tomato. I am getting horrible internet performance, horrible. I haven't played with wireless power in Merlin's firmware, but at default settings...

Anyone go from a WNDR3700v1 to an N66U

Well, maybe I'll give the N66U a try then. Don't get me wrong, the N65U has been a great experience this week in terms of responsiveness and general speed and stability. However the big con here is that wireless coverage is absolutely horrid (maybe I got a dud?). The wireless is much much...
