Yes I use the additional bandwidth for multiple WiFi devices that connect. As mentioned the hardware connectivity lights are going out for the Ethernet ports when the issue occurs, so it seems unlikely to be anything external.
The devices connected are 100Mbit devices. It is happening on multiple ports, but also at the same time (so two devices suddenly go down at the same time). Both RT-AX86U devices are in access point mode not router mode. Nothing changed except the firmware. No regular things happening at these...
Thanks I've tried these already. Also I have two RT-AC86U devices and they have both started playing up in the same way under the new firmware - with different devices attached (all cameras streaming 24-7).
Since the latest release (3004.388.9_2 - was previously on 3004.388.8_4), there seems to be some instability with the Ethernet connections with my RT-AX86U.
Unplugging and plugging the cable in immediately resolves the issue, but when it happens it looks like nothing is connected to the port...
@Tech9 I have a VLAN for guest WiFi, and I have a custom script to put the Asus Guest Wifi on that VLAN. It's all a bit clunky though - a UI on the Asus to control this would be better.
@AndrewJacob I have a Firewalla Gold Plus router, and three RT-AX86U devices (Merlin firmware) in access point mode wired back to the router. Works great, and the Firewalla has better functionality than the Asus in router mode.
I tried to visit green-envy.co.uk and received a Trend Micro site blocked message from my router, but I have all AiProtection turned off. Parental controls also off.
This is the first time I've seen this come up, and yesterday I upgraded to 3004.388.4 so it could be as a result of that.
This...
I have one RT-AX86U operating in Router Mode, and two others operating in Access Point mode to extend wireless coverage.
The Router is connected via the 2.5G LAN port to a QNAP 2.5G Switch, and then this is turn is connected to the two access points via their own 2.5G LAN.
This is working...
I frequently find my channel changing. I pick an 80Mhz size channel in the DFS range, and at some point it switched to use channel 36 instead, which has a lot of interference from Sky Q's mesh.
Could this script be expanded to also detect when the channel changes, and if it does restart the radio?
I have three RT-AX86U's and have a QNAP 2.5Gbps switch. The RT-AX86U in router mode is connected to the switch via 2.5G port, and the other two are connected to the switch from their 2.5G port. I have a 2.5G PC also connected to the switch.
Unfortunately I could only ever get AIMesh working...
