How do TP-Link unmanaged pro switches decide which vlan to use for their dhcp addr?

I can't seem to figure out the pattern behind how my TP-Link unmanaged pro switches pick which vlan to use for their dhcp address. I've scoured the documentation for this but haven't had any luck. Does anyone happen to know, vlan priority perhaps?

    TP-Link EAP245 V3 VS my existing RT-68U?

Hmm, 10 dBm is a significant difference. It does however look like the 225 and 245 both support mesh if I have to go that direction.... Also, can you bind the bridge port on the EAP245 to a specific VLAN or does it inherit whatever VLAN assignment the main port receives. E.G. if it's trunked...

    TP-Link EAP245 V3 VS my existing RT-68U?

Thanks, please let me know.. It'd be ideal if I could just swap out the existing RT-68U directly and not have to deal with additional Ethernet runs and AP(s).

    TP-Link EAP245 V3 VS my existing RT-68U?

It does have an AP mode although my goal is to separate IOT, guest and regular devices from each other. How much weaker would you say the signal is comparatively? My current ac68u covers pretty much the entirety of my lot with 2.4. 5ghz gets to my detached garage but is around 64dbm.

    TP-Link EAP245 V3 VS my existing RT-68U?

I'm in the process of overhauling my network layout and switching to a PFSENSE router as well as connecting everything through a switch in my basement. I'm currently looking for an enterprise Wave 2 AP so that I can have multiple SSIDs on different VLANS. How would the range and performance of...

Have wifi coverage issues, looking for advice on what to replace my current setup with.

After having experimented with Demo UI's for various routers, I'm thinking that UniFi Might be the only way to go aside from rolling the dice with ASUS. TPLink routers seem to lack ability to set VLAN tagging on WAN port and disable WPS. The NetGear Genie OS is fairly clunky in my opinion, it...

Have wifi coverage issues, looking for advice on what to replace my current setup with.

It looks like Ruckus could be a route to go with, It seems that they do support VLAN tagging so it'd give me the ability to expand to having a different SSID for IoT vs mobile devices in the future. https://forums.ruckuswireless.com/ruckuswireless/topics/tagging_vlan_per_ssid

Have wifi coverage issues, looking for advice on what to replace my current setup with.

Wow thank you for your detailed reply. I believe that I would at a minimum need a UniFI USG, 8 Port switch and UAP-AC-M-Pro in order to get started with UniFI hardware. Given my network topology I think a long term goal would be to gut and redo my entire network, trunking everything to the...

Have wifi coverage issues, looking for advice on what to replace my current setup with.

I'm having issues with coverage in a few spots of my house and am looking to overhaul my network with something that can reach those locations. Mesh would be ideal. My house is 1800 sqft 2 story house with a Basement and the walls are constructed of Lath and plaster. I currently have 2X ASUS...

RT-AC68U with an antenna base that's hot to the touch?

Yeah, I tried reflowing it to no avail. It's currently set aside while I wait for the connectors to come on a slow boat from china (literally)

RT-AC68U with an antenna base that's hot to the touch?

I'm having a hell of a time trying to get the lead-free solder to flow so that I can suck it up, even with my butane iron. I'm currently looking into tools that would be more effective for this. I'm also buying some SMA-KWE connectors from ali-express.

RT-AC68U with an antenna base that's hot to the touch?

ETH 1/2 are the names for the 2.4ghz and 5ghz radio CPU. I pulled the housing off the router and let it sit idle for an hour wit the antennas disconnected. The heatsink on the processors averages 50c while the problematic antenna connector (CON4) temps at 62c! the other two are 40c and 33c. I...

RT-AC68U with an antenna base that's hot to the touch?

CPU idles around 76c ETH 1 is 71 ETH 2 is 79 The connector base itself is about 46c whereas the others are all sitting around 32c. This temp was taken without an attached antenna, the temp goes down some when I screw in an antenna as it wicks away the heat some but not by much. Is this normal...

RT-AC68U with an antenna base that's hot to the touch?

While they don't seem alarmingly hot, it does definitely seem to run a few degrees hotter then my other RT-AC68U(s). I'll need to use an infrared thermometer on it tomorrow. As for getting the exact CPU temp, would I Enable SSH and run the following command with putty? cat /proc/dmu/temperature

RT-AC68U with an antenna base that's hot to the touch?

I picked up a cheap like-new RT AC-68U however I noticed that one of the antennas on it is abnormally warm. The Antenna connector that's closest to the power switch is abnormally hot to the touch, I'm estimating around 120* Fahrenheit. I pulled the router apart to see if there was anything...
