Can I move drives from a failed NAS?

Thank you for your comment, but I have read of the different types of Raid. I know the general way it works, and had settled on Raid 5 to get a bit more miles out of my TB's over raid 10. Then as I read more about 5, I decided to use 10 as it seems far safer and can suffer multiple drive...

Can I move drives from a failed NAS?

This is cool, I got an answer to a question I hadnt even really considered. What IF the NAS itself fails, not the drive...That sounds kinda scary. The whole idea behind what I am trying to accomplish is keeping my data safe, hadnt really considered anything but loosing a drive or 2 up till now...

Question about drive sizes on Intel SS4200-e

well, that makes it easier for me i guess:) I will just use the 2x1.5tb's I have and sell off the 1tb's. Maybe purchase more of the 1.5tb's later on. Again, thank you very much for your answers. I cant wait to get this up and running.

Can I get a quick opinion on my layout?

ok, that is even better than, I can move all of the computers to the 8 port switch. In my reading, it sounded like sometimes 100 and 1000 didnt get along and would force 1000 so I figured it would be a little "extra safe". Thanks for the help!

Can I get a quick opinion on my layout?

I have attached a drawing of how I intend to cable my system, I would just like a thumbs up or down. My main goal is to allow the gigabit connected pieces to work at full speed, while the older stuff is still on the network. I do not have a NAS yet, but put it in for future planning. All my...
