Release Asus RT-AX86 Series Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24386 9/1/2025

Doesn't appear to be, I think it's just a refinement of security policies and bug fixes.

Release Asus RT-AX86 Series Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24386 9/1/2025

I reviewed the list of changes to defaults, and the settings I make personally on a fresh setup, and most of what Asus has set for the new defaults are changes I make manually to my config, so they are the same settings, now simply being the defaults. The other changes to defaults, are settings...

Release Asus RT-AX86 Series Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24386 9/1/2025

Good catch, I didn't even realize that auto firmware updates had defaulted to off with the update. I'm so used to turning it off when doing my settings.

Release Asus RT-AX86 Series Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24386 9/1/2025

Thanks, that's what I thought, but I was having a little bit of goofy behavior with my Roku after switching routers, and doing the firmware update on the Asus, and a clean setup. However, I think it was an issue with the Roku, and not the Router. The Roku and WPS have nothing to do with each...

Release Asus RT-AX86 Series Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24386 9/1/2025

Since I started over with a clean slate after the update. Do Asus routers need to be rebooted after turning off WPS in the settings, even though it shows it turning off instantly? I forgot to disable it when I made my initial changes and did the system reboot once all changes were made to make...

Release Asus RT-AX86 Series Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24386 9/1/2025

The Pro models replaced the standard ones, now it's the WiFi 7 models. The 86 Series simply refers to the RT-AX86U, and the RT-AX86S. The Pro is a separate model. I haven't seen anything referencing any of these models until I stumbled onto the new firmware update, that I posted here yesterday.

Release Asus RT-AX86 Series Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24386 9/1/2025

Did the upgrade today, then did a WPS button hard reset, everything reconfigured as I had it before, but starting with the fresh updated defaults. Everything seems to be working as it should.

Release Asus RT-AX86 Series Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24386 9/1/2025

Oh, I never disagreed with anyone here, I was just comparing the list of new defaults to what I make my normal settings. I'm sure there are tones of settings and config files changed not exposed to the end user.

Release Asus RT-AX86 Series Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24386 9/1/2025

I typically do a factory reset on firmware updates. I was mainly curious in this case because the new defaults Asus sets, are already set by me in the settings. I will probably just do a factory reset, and start fresh though. I haven't updated because I am using different router, and put the...

Release Asus RT-AX86 Series Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24386 9/1/2025

Even though I posted this thread, I haven't updated my router yet. I was curious, if I don't do the suggested factory reset that Asus recommends, how many of the new updates will not function as intended? I ask, because according to the list of changes, many of the settings I have made, are...

Release Asus RT-AX86 Series Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24386 9/1/2025

Thanks for providing the direct link. I wasn't sure if it was better to just provide the link to the Asus site, or direct to the firmware, or even both.

Unable to check for updates from the web GUI

I've had the issue with unable to contact the update server occasionaly on both, the RT-AX86U, and the BE92U (when I had it), and the issue usually fixes itself with a few minutes, or a couple of hours. So, it's usually just temporary.

RT-BE92U and Nvidia Shield Pro 2019

No, not at all, I just came into the conversation with the impression of WiFi being your only option, so that's why I suggested using the gigabit port for Ethernet would give you a much better connection.

RT-BE92U and Nvidia Shield Pro 2019

I have a Shield TV Pro (2019) with all current updates installed. I have mine hard wired though as @RMerlin stated that he does. I use My Shield mainly for Plex media local streaming, as it's still the best device for lossless bitstream audio passthrough. I no longer have my BE92U as I got...
