DNS Filter (DNS over TLS, port 853)

Hello, When DNSFilter is enabled in Merlin, will only DNS requests over port 53 be re-directed if necessary? What about port 853 (DNS over TLS)? I am reading this post in Discord, it's coming from a channel of a VPN provider: The poster in this articles states that both 'normal' DNS...

How to easily switch between TorGuard's dedicated IPs?

Torguard (streaming bundle) gives you 2 streaming IP's and you can configure both IP's on your [email protected] router. What you can do is assign a subnet to each VPN. Yes, you use the new VPN director feature to do this.. In older Merlin firmware versions you'll have to add rules in each VPN client...

    Beta VPN Director testing

Today I tried to add a new rule 'Jumbo #1'... The idea is that this rule re-routes traffic to this destination IP (a supermarket) from VPN client 4 to VPN client1. In this example, my PC (with IP 192.168.4.10) is using VPN4. However, this website (www.jumbo.com) is blocking my VPN. So I...

    Beta VPN Director testing

I just flashed the latest alpha firmware to my AX88U... After that my router rebooted, I encountered DNS related issues on one of my VPN clients: VPN1: WeVPN (exclusive DNS) VPN2: - VPN3: - VPN4: Torguard NL (exclusive DNS) * VPN5: Torguard US (exclusive DNS) (*) The VPN4 client did not work...

    Beta VPN Director testing

I just updated my AX88U to the latest firmware version and it looks great (and an improvement)! It appears that in my use-case no functionality was lost. Until now no issues seen with this firmware version. The routing rules look more intuitive and it's more understandable, great work :) ! And...

VPN policy routing management: per client versus centralized?

I would choose for B (as it is now).. It gives flexibility which would be lost if method A would be implemented. I use 2 VPN's (and WAN): WAN : 192.168.0.0 /24 VPN1: 192.168.1.0 /24 VPN2: 192.168.2.0 /24 As already said, the implementation as it is now gives flexibility... By just changing the...

Exclude website from being routed to VPN (policy based routing)

Hi Xentrk, Thanks for your reply, that sounds interesting to be able to re-route traffic for streaming services like Netflix, Disney+ et cetera... Or just re-route an IP-range as I was trying to do.. Like many others I use streaming services and a VPN at the same time, it would be great to...

Exclude website from being routed to VPN (policy based routing)

Yes, that was what I wanted to know, thank you for the explanation.... :)

Exclude website from being routed to VPN (policy based routing)

I made that very same mistake too, specifying a domain and using something like 255.255.255.0.... This does not work :-/ Since this is new to me, just one more question out of curiosity: In the example above, the line 'route 176.32.103.0 255.255.255.0 net_gateway' routes to the WAN because of...

Exclude website from being routed to VPN (policy based routing)

This method also works, thanks :-) When using the IP-address range of my IPTV provider in /24 format, it started working... Just a single IP address (domain) wasn't enough. Happy happy :)

This works perfectly, thanks ! :)

Exclude website from being routed to VPN (policy based routing)

Hello, I want to exclude traffic from my IPTV provider from being routed to my VPN. So instead I want it being routed to the WAN directly. The reason is that my VPN IP (a dedicated IP) is giving me problems and streaming won't work. Changing to another dedicated IP is not an option because my...

    [Alpha] 386.2

Again thanks for claryfying this.. Just another quick question: Do the other QoS Types (like Adaptive QoS) also work such a way that only traffic _outside_ the VPN tunnel is scheduled (and traffic inside the tunnel is not scheduled) ??

    [Alpha] 386.2

Aah OK.. It (Cake) looks at traffic to/from the WAN port? traffic at that point is already encrypted.. I guess that I'll have to limit bandwidth for some apps manually. I'd better disable this QoS option completely
