Intel 9560NGW wlan card - what else do I need?

Called another tech and he explained further that the “feature byte” may not have been enabled on the motherboard for WiFi. Is that something I can fix myself?

Intel 9560NGW wlan card - what else do I need?

To be clear, HP support was saying NO wlan card (not just a list) either placed on the MB or pci slot. I’d never heard of that when the mb has the slots.

Intel 9560NGW wlan card - what else do I need?

Well, just found out that I can't add a wifi card to this machine. Support (after confirming my serial number) said something like "if it wasn't stamped on to the mother board, it won't work". So, I can't use the intel 9560 wlan card I bought. I guess that is why this doesn't have any type of...

Intel 9560NGW wlan card - what else do I need?

What else do I need to get my wlan card up and running? So, I bought an HP Elitedesk 800 G4 used off ebay for the purpose of running a Blue Iris machine for my IP Cameras. Looked up the specs and it accets the 9560 wlan card. Great! I buy it used on ebay. When I crack the desktop to...

Synology Remote Support - wanted key/pw over email

Does anyone else find this egregious and shocking that Synology would request I sent via normal email the support identification key from my router plus my admin password? Also to enable SSH under port 22? This was for them to remote in and fix google safesearch blocking youtube. I like the help...

Can you tell me what this hardware does in my old setup?

I have learned a ton since asking what a patch panel is. I have 500ft of cat6 cable in my cart at monoprice (UPT, CMR), and at fs.com I've got plugs and gang plates. Trying to decide now between unshilded, toolless keystone jacks at fs.com (link) and some unshielded, punchdown keystone jacks...

Can you tell me what this hardware does in my old setup?

Cool. Very helpful. I'm enjoying learning all this stuff (been reading non-stop after I got my synology router last week). I looked on the patch panel (been here 15 years and never looked up what that was :) and it says cat5. Would it have said cat5e if it meant that or could cat5 mean both?

Can you tell me what this hardware does in my old setup?

So, if want to make some new runs for ip cameras i'm getting (or replace cat3) I should terminate them at the patch panel and not in the switch I'm getting (then panel to switch)? Is the reason for not terminating in switch just so you can easily change what goes to the switch later? If I...

Can you tell me what this hardware does in my old setup?

What is going on with my networking setup? Setup is old: cat 3 wiring (double pair so at least 100 speed) going to the places in the house. I just don't know what the items are they are connected to. One looks like a bridge (the black one). What is the one on the bottom (thumbnail gives...
