How to setup RDP thru OpenVPN on AC86U

Finally got it to work last night. Once I used the IP address of the computer I was trying to connect to it went though. I had been using the computer name like Win10 told me to use. Thanks for the suggestions. I'm going look into some of these other apps (Anydesk, Team Viewer, Join Me) in...

How to setup RDP thru OpenVPN on AC86U

I trying to setup a way to connect to my two kid's laptops while they are away at college via RDP. They both have OpenVPN clients running on their laptops that can connect to my 86U running an OpenVPN server here at home. They do this if they have to get on an unknown WiFi network. If they...

AC86U with 384.5 VPN log question

Thanks for confirming! That's the only service that is exposed and I'd like to keep it running instead of turning it off and on.

AC86U with 384.5 VPN log question

Quick question, I'm using my 86U as an OpenVPN server so we can connect to it anytime we're on another WiFi. It's working great for all our devices. Looking thought the logs today, I'm noticing this entry a few times a day. It's at times I know no one is trying to connect to the VPN. Is...

    Ooma VoIP QOS classification?

My QOS needs really don't go beyond VoIP. I still need to figure out how Ooma is categorized to be able to set rules for it. Anyone know?

    Ooma VoIP QOS classification?

No, I haven't made it that far yet. Trying to set this up without scripts.

    Ooma VoIP QOS classification?

How would the VoIP service Ooma be classified in QOS. As a true VoIP or HTTPS? Been playing around with adaptive and traditional QOS settings with that latest 384.5 firmware. Every time I set VoIP as the highest priority in the custom setting of adaptive, when I go back in they are not in the...

    Home network setup questions

I would say from home use it would be secure enough. The two are separate and can't talk to one another. If you want to your wireless devices not to be able to talk to one another, there is a setting under, wireless, professional, called "Set AP Isolated". With that enabled, all the wireless...

    Home network setup questions

Do you have the guest mode on your router enabled? You could dump all your IoT devices there. The guest mode is separate from your main network. That's how I have mine setup and it works well.

    OpenDNS IP update

You need to check dns-o-matic's website. Asuscomm.com's ddns service is NOT supported. So my setup won't work for you that way. You'll need to chose a ddns service from their list...there are many. And you do not need the scripts if you do it the way I did. It updates both automatically as...

    OpenDNS IP update

Just went though all this a few weeks ago. Since you already have a OpenDNS account, you can sign up for a free DNSOMATIC account with the same credentials (it is run by OpenDNS). DNSOMATIC is a free utility that keeps OpenDNS updated with your current IP and it can also keep a bunch of other...

    New managed switch...now what?

Thanks for the link, I did run across that a week ago (been reading a lot). Right now I have a simple modem (mb8600) to router(asus-ac86u) to switch(sg300-28) setup with around 20 wired and 25 wireless devices(amazing how fast those things add up). Not sure if multiple VLANs or a layer 3...

    New managed switch...now what?

I upgraded my switch to a new Cisco SG300-28. I plan to slowly play around, learn, and tinker with the settings as I get time. But for right now, what would be a few settings I should change or tweak right off the bat? I already set the device with a static ip, gateway, subnet. I downloaded...
