    RT-AC88U LAN CONNECTION FAILING

It is very annoying but hey ho such is life says a man who has suffered one cardiac arrest and then driven home 2000 miles in a very large motorhome within 10 days after having an ICD fitted. Thankfully Asus don't make such devices.

    RT-AC88U LAN CONNECTION FAILING

Well I have port 6 working now and I have had the system virtually functioning correctly for about 5 or 6 months. I do admit I have not closely monitored it but it does n't seem that bad. It was only when I totally lost one of the ports that I really started poking around and considered...

    RT-AC88U LAN CONNECTION FAILING

I have used an AC68U for 5 years with no problem but unfortunately upgraded to the higher port RT-AC88U 6 months ago and have noticed it appears to be unstable on its Lan C0nnections. When one examines the network the number of devices connected flashes and the LAN connections are shown to be...

Replacement secondhand RT AC88u proving problematic

OK so after 4 days shut down whilst away I rebooted the AC88U and then once stable checked to wipe the Jiffs which was at approx 4MB and also cleared out the syslog which I view as corrupt in that the entry dates ran from Aug10 - May 5 followed by Aug 11 entries and then Aug 18 following the...

Replacement secondhand RT AC88u proving problematic

After almost 10 years of using an AC68U I have in the past 2 weeks obtain a relatively new 2020 AC88U and after a factory reset continued to load up the latest merlin as I have used this excellent firmware since forever with absolutely no problems until now with the AC88U which is proving...

    RT-AC68U vs RT-AX68U

So in general are you arguing there is little merit in upgrading to the AX units if your system primarily comprises older items built around 2.4 and 5? The price diff between an AX and equivalent AC router is significant but as Tech9 explains there has been a pretty major upgrade in components.

Help required to run Windscribe in Asuswrt-Merlin 386.3 on a RT-AX88U

I have used Windscribe for years on router, NAS and PC's with no speed problem. Generally use European, Netherland, France with no noticeable difference. Using it currently to stream Australian TV with no stutter so I can't imagine the speed is a problem there although I have not measured it...

What would be considered more optimal - AX88U / AC68U mesh or Deco M9 Plus

Interesting. The AX86 and AX88 are both at quite a premium price compared to the AX68. I have noticed the AX92U is available at a lower price. Does the 92 compare at all favourably with the 86. I am thinking of a single unit all a twin setup would be posible but my house is not particularly...

What would be considered more optimal - AX88U / AC68U mesh or Deco M9 Plus

Thanks for that advice L&LD which I follow and appreciate. I suppose it begs the question is it in effect time to bin the 8 year old router. I certainly cannot complain about the service it has provided. I was thinking of employing it as a secondary node in a location which is seldom utilised...

What would be considered more optimal - AX88U / AC68U mesh or Deco M9 Plus

I happen to have an ageing AC68U which has recently developed a habit of dropping a connecction to on pc in particular and caused me to consider the benefits of upgrading to an AX unit and running mesh utilising the AC68U as a secondary node. I note L&LD's response and I am curious why he...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

Dirty upgrade from 348.13 to 348.19 on ac68u, everything seems okay even with such a large step. Backed up and restored Jffs and reloaded Diversions usb etc with no problem.

    LetsEncrypt and Factory reset

Hi I have been running Merlin on an ac68u succesfully for a number of years with no real problems serving a primarily windows orientated network of 4 computers, a Synology server and 4 media items. Unfortunately recently I have experienced very poor network performance with connections hanging...

    Pathetic OpenVPN downloads Asus RT68U

Thanks yorgi for the response. I take your point abou the cpu but I was actually simply using the vpn to route usenet data to a LAN attached Synology NAS so the router was not handling any torrents although I understand it has that ao-called capability. I tend to agree that it may well be the...

    Pathetic OpenVPN downloads Asus RT68U

I have been using an ASUS RT68U for several years having obtained it second hand. It came with Merlin firmware which following consideration I have retained and progressively updated to 380.63_2. I have a 100Mbps cable via VM and primarily use the system for downloading to a Synology NAS that...
