    Phicomm K3C AC1900 MU-MIMO Gigabit Router Reviewed

Yes I have the K3C connected to a switch (which ultimately connects to my router) using a LAN port. Every time DHCP is requested by client devices, I can see the K3C answering with a NACK and I also see the reply of my router (aka the 'real' DHCP server). This has worked without a hitch since...

    Phicomm K3C AC1900 MU-MIMO Gigabit Router Reviewed

Yes DHCP is broadcast so the Phicomm will still see DHCP requests from clients (and be tempted to reply). I see the same behaviour as you do after a reboot. Try to enable DHCP again while it still confined in the /30. Set the DHCP pool to contain 1 IP only. And make this 1 ip the SAME ip as the...

    Phicomm K3C AC1900 MU-MIMO Gigabit Router Reviewed

Well the K3C is not chatting as I have the WAN port disconnected I guess (it is set to dhcp with no cable connected to the physical port). It doesn't try to chat to the internet via the LAN AFAIK. edit: misread your Q. The Chinese gear (not the K3C! ) was sending gratuitous arps at regular...

    Phicomm K3C AC1900 MU-MIMO Gigabit Router Reviewed

Alrighty, I fixed most of this by putting the Phicomm K3C in a /30 subnet I carved out the /24 catering for my LAN. So I lose 4 IP's. Maybe I'll try a /31 later if it accepts this to minimise the loss. Now, it no longer sees other hosts and obviously will not try to ping or send ARP requests...

    Phicomm K3C AC1900 MU-MIMO Gigabit Router Reviewed

2nd ticket to Phicomm. Annoyingly, the K3C is pinging every device whose address and MAC it learns over its switchports. So it does not ping clients connected to its wifi-radios. I admit, this is only a minor issue. small addition: it also keeps sending ARP reqs. when it can no longer ping a...

    Phicomm K3C AC1900 MU-MIMO Gigabit Router Reviewed

I was just testing AP mode (i.e. disabling DHCP). It seems to work on the latest firmware V33.1.33.197_02_03_2018 that is... until you reboot it. Then the DHCP server gets enabled again although the GUI still says it is disabled. I've mailed Phicomm about this. Sounds like an easy fix:)

I just bought one too. I'm going to use it as AP only. I hope it will do its job admirably.

Router with virtual access point function: which vendors?

Perhaps it is a good idea to spell out my requirements. In our country, the television box (for interactive tv) has to be directly connected the cable modem (there is still a switch in between but logcially that does not matter). So directly connected = no NAT, no firewall. Our provider does...

Router with virtual access point function: which vendors?

Hi Tim, what is described here then? http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=38368 I thought if DDWRT has it...But the thread seems to indicate it is still buggy and that is does not work. But you are right. A port cannot exist at L3 and L2 simultaneously. I should have seen...

Router with virtual access point function: which vendors?

Hi, I don't think this is an unexisting feature, but I'm looking for a router, which can create a virtual access point, which I can bridge (or put in the same vlan as) the WAN port (thus bypassing NAT + Firewall). I need it for (wireless + wired) gear that needs to obtain DHCP lease from the...

Router with VLAN capable WAN port?

Good idea! I'll look into that. It would/might (this is an assumption) be possible to configure a Cisco IOS router as DDWRT does it: http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Default_Configuration_Overview The wan port as access port in VLAN 20. The trunk port would then be in VLAN10 + 20...

Router with VLAN capable WAN port?

I attached a picture to make this easier to follow:) I have a tv ip box somewhere (represented by the device with the red line, left in the picture). It is connected to a VLAN switch, which in turn is connected to another VLAN switch, which in turn is connected to the router. So I've put this...

    Need some help...now what??

Yes, Pretty much if the cable needs to go into the dry wall. I'm not native English, but with a wall port, you mean that the Ethernet port is cleanly embedded into the wall like a power socket? I was unaware that you were referring to such scenario. So each of the 4 cables is ALREADY in the...

    Need some help...now what??

Hi Mark, IF I understand correctly, all your cables start from the basement? You have 4 cables going from the basement to the attic, and 1 cable from the basement going to the mid level? Is this correct? Well, one approach could be that you place a switch on every level. The basement...

Router with VLAN capable WAN port?

Colour me stupid but does this exist? I just want the WAN port to function as an untagged member of, lets say, VLAN2. Then, I'd create a trunk (tagged port) on a LAN port of the router, which trunks VLAN 2 and some other VLAN. Assume this trunks ends in a VLAN switch, then members of VLAN 2...
