Has Asus decided to abandon this router model (XT8) for further firmware updates?
The last update was 6 months ago.
Version 3.0.0.4.388.23285 2023/05/15
Same for my V1 XT8 pair, the only stable firmware is 42095.
Later versions work but intermittent wireless backhaul drops cause Plex to crash on devices.
And this is an important role for this mesh network, so I had to give up the latest security updates and sit on 42095 before replacing these...
Thanks for confirming this issue.
My wireless backhaul has been pretty stable ever since I switched the channels to U-NII-4 range on a 5GHz-2 wireless network.
Essentially moving away from DFS / Radar channels towards a full 160MHz continuous bandwidth.
And really, I won't do much with the PHY...
After the last firmware update to 3.0.0.4.388_22068 I reset my XT8 AiMesh system to factory settings with WPS button method, and for the first few days I saw all the statistics on the AiMesh -> Node -> Network page, including 'Backhaul Information' PHY rate in Transmit / Receive XXXX Mbps.
A...
This was my main reason for downgrading to 42095. I can't watch anything long enough on Plex without interruptions and error messages.
Thanks for your report, I won't even try to update to this version!
That last 45898 firmware still has 55 MB size
I am rock solid on 42095 for a couple of months since downgrading, and this time I definitely won't rush to update it until stability has been tested aka bulletproof.
Unfortunately for ET8 there is no older and more stable firmware version like 42095 as for XT8. But this puts even more pressure on ASUS to find and fix bugs in their latest firmware. Hopefully this will be a comprehensive solution for both ET8 and XT8.
So far, my XT8 has been running stable at...
I couldn't find the reason for the intermittent client disconnection at the remote node for 3 months! This applied to both wired and wireless connections of the remote node. Several of my always-on-demand services were randomly falling off. I have already gone through all the cables, changed...
Hi everybody,
I am checking the kernel logs on my main XT8 router and AiMesh XT8 node router and cannot find the reason for the many repeated error messages there.
Latest firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.43181 installed on both routers.
5GHZ-2 is used as Wi-Fi backhaul connection.
Here's part of...
I would upgrade to ET8 if ASUS offered a trade-in program for the current XT8 routers.
Otherwise, as the current owner of the XT8 system, it's not worth upgrading.
And do it in black edition too. The current white one will not suit the interior of my rooms.
So, I used WireShark to sniff for packets from the Asus ZenWiFi node device and found that the WPS service continues to send SSDP messages even though I have WPS disabled for all frequency bands.
