You might be having a overheat problem. I would try to put a 120mm or 80mm fan on it and see if that helps. Does anyone have the tear down picture of the hardware? Is there is built in fan in the router? Is SMB going to do a review for GT-AC5300? It seems like ASUS is not promoting this...

RT-AC5300 File Transfer vs GT-AC5300 File Transfer both are with USB 3.0 Interference disabled.

Disabled USB 3.0 Interference reduction, but No effect! Still same crappy speed 12MB/s. Now i am really leaning towards LinkSys WRT3200 or Back to RT-AC5300.

Now that I have upgraded the Firmware and Cat-5E Cable. Things are looking stable, no problem so far and it has been 24 hrs. It seems like stable as RT-AC5300, and Wireless Range is same. My reason to upgrade from RT - > GT is to utilize Quad Core + 1GB RAM for NAS + 150Mbps File Transfer...
