Personally I found that version dropped my DL speed by about 300Mbs, despite factory reset and reconfiguring from scratch speed would not come back to normal range.
I rolled back to the previous version and my speeds came back to normal.
I'm getting about 300Mbs slower wired speeds with the latest firmware update. Also using WAN aggregation.

Correct that's why I want to replace the AC68 node in my setup as it's the weak link.
Also I have not noticed any real impact using dual band for wireless backhaul but tri band would be better of course hard wired is best but not really doable in every case.
I understood, I just was not clear I would rather have another 86U instead of the 88u. But as I purchased the 88 first I'm kind of stuck with it and that's ok.
In hind sight I would be happy to have all 3 (main and 2 nodes) be AX86U units.
I would go with AX86U it has great range, i think a bit better than the ax88u. I have one of each and stability has improved since making the 86U main and the 88u as node. Also have an AC68 as node and I plan to replace it with AX86U in the near future.
No guest network enabled, all running Asus stock firmware so can't see temps. Also all firmware is up to date.
AX86U main router - AX88U node and AC68U node.
Previously it was AX88U main router - AC68R node and AC68U node.
Bought the AX86U as I thought the AC68R might be failing now I'm...
Total noob to CLI and non windows networking configuration (and I struggle with that).
I was hoping to install USB to 2.5Gbe adapter to be able to take full advantage of the onboard 2.5Gbe of my PC with the already configured WAN aggregation on my AX88U...
