For months i've noticed that my download speeds with comcast were no where near 800 (and now i have gigabit as well), always around 450 mbps or so. I assumed it was an issue with comcast and even had techs out.
Today i tried something, i took the router out of the picture and connected...
actually its not fixed, though it may be more of a router issue.. the qos xt8 speed test shows 1000 mbps, but now the standard internet test is still reporting 450-500
I've tested this scenario on a direct wire to my pc (2.5gbps) and i get really good performance at least for the 5 mins it was connected.. around 900-1100 mbps..
When i reconnect the zen wifi main router (2.5 gbps to modem and 2.5 gbps to pc), initially its decent around 900 mbps, then after...
So far nothing i've tried will open the port.
Actually its not just that port.. i have some existing other ones that are showing open.. however, if i take one of those open ones and change to say 441 or 442 tcp, and retest, it says closed. This might be a general issue suddenly with the...
Another, I had only seen this on Comcast forums
Is there a known issue with a signature update on the xt8? edit: now i see a few of those posts but nothing relevant .
I have a port that was open and working fine on 44158 tcp until 4 days ago... i also noted the firmware signature updated 4 days ago (not sure what that means, i didnt update the firmware itself however).
I had the port on port forwarding just fine, now if you do an external check it says...
I still have issues even with 42095 though i didnt do a factory reset, not sure if that matters? And if it does, can you just restore settings from a newer one ontop?
issues like 2.4 not going as far, and, "unable to obtain ip address" on wireless phones.
Is it possible to find an even older...
Thanks thats what i did..
Though i didnt do a factory reset.. can you just restore current backup if you do a reset?
Not sure if not doing the reset is why, but even with 42095 my 2.4ghz range is not nearly as long as it was before. I'm thinking the firmware that worked better was before this...
I have two asus xt8's, ever since the latest two updates (now at 3.0.0.4.386_45934), i experience constant disconnects over time on various devices and 2.4 doesnt reach as far as it used to.
I have tried tri band mode and 5ghz smart connect (still not sure which mode is better either).
Pretty...
Update, so with my xt8 asus, a few things i did..
It was suggested to revert to a firmware from feb 2021 or previous (3.0.0.4.386.42095 or before). The 2021 feb one (42095) didnt seem to make a difference so i went with 3.0.0.4.386_41793
I dont think this was the fix.
I then went into 5ghz-1...
Well i went back as far as firmware 3.0.0.4.386_41793 i also rebooted each mesh unit. No luck, the nest still goes to offline mode.
I havent tried doing a factory reset on the asus yet however.
Ok, i thought i had read somewhere (cant find), that a factory reset was needed after a downgrade and all settings manually reentered (i have quite a few settings) though?
Does anyone know the official formula for downgrading firmware with this unit?
Can i simply point the local web interface to the old firmware and hit update?
Or is there more to it. I cant seem to find any info.
Will settings be preserved? (Or back them up and restore them?)
Thanks
