Xfi won't properly reserve IP address for device; printers show as unconnected

My knowledge of networks is pretty rudimentary, so I probably won't understand a highly technical explanation of some LAN behavior that baffles me completely. Posting this here, though, because Comcast hasn't a clue. I just switched from a third party router to the Comcast xfi gateway. I hate...

Bridge connects wired devices to network but not internet

Overdrive, I cannot thank you enough. I think the problem before was that identified external ports that weren't numbered high enough to be available for use. When I chose a number at the high end of the range, I was able to get web access, finally. I had some log-on issues that I resolved...

Bridge connects wired devices to network but not internet

Thanks for setting this out in such detail. I do think it's what I was doing when I tried manual port-setting on the NAS and port-forwarding on the router before, but I will follow your instructions explicitly and we'll see how I do. :)

Bridge connects wired devices to network but not internet

Honestly, I am not dismissing it. I am grateful for your help. I have tried to do what you've suggested, but I think I must have been doing it incorrectly, which is why I thought I ought to have D-Link walk me through the entries in the web interface as I made them. I will try it again, I...

Bridge connects wired devices to network but not internet

Overdrive: (1) I haven't updated the NAS firmware at all, but I will try 9090 for Bittorrent, too. (BTW, I am not really a torrent user, but I followed a suggestion on the Buffalo forum to installt the Bittorrent PC client and see if IT would work and it does, indeed.) Also, I don't know...

Bridge connects wired devices to network but not internet

Thanks very much again. Since I last posted, I tested the multicast streaming and found it made no difference; I learned there's a recent firmware upgrade for the bridge, so will add that this weekend; and was unable to see the settings options that you picture on the bridge admin page. Just a...

Bridge connects wired devices to network but not internet

Overdrive: (1) I only changed the end point filtering for a few minutes last night while looking at the router's firewall screen. Changing it had no effect on my other issues, so I set it back to the defaults after a few minutes. (2) I am an early PacBell ADSL adopter, so I actually have a...

Bridge connects wired devices to network but not internet

I also just noticed something else. I never turn on the NAS' bittorrent manager because I am not really a downloader, but I remembered that it operates on port 8080. I tried bringing it up now, but the router, to which the NAS is wired by ethernet, can't see it. I turned off the McAfee...

Bridge connects wired devices to network but not internet

RTSP is enabled. I know I haven't touched it, so it must have been enabled all along.

Bridge connects wired devices to network but not internet

Overdrive, thanks. (1) The modem is the same 2wire modem/router/switch that I previously used, but now bridged. (2) Yes, the DAP-1522 reconnected just fine when I had WPS turned off. In fact, the entire network seemed to behave the same whether it was on or off. (3) The NAS is and always has...

Bridge connects wired devices to network but not internet

Overdrive, I tried disabling WPS and enabling WAN ping, separately and apart. Nothing changed. Still no internet radio on the servers and no web access for the NAS. I appreciate the suggestions, but no luck so far. :(

Possible port forwarding issue with D-Link DIR-825

Moving gear, it is, then! Thanks for the suggestions. I will post what I determine.

Possible port forwarding issue with D-Link DIR-825

The only thing I am certain is not working is the Internet radio, yes. (I don't know if the unit can reach the CD database on the web, as it's been quite awhile since I had a CD new enough not to be in the on-board database, and the developer has crippled the firmware update because updates no...

Bridge connects wired devices to network but not internet

I confess that I haven't gotten around to trying either. I am not sure how to disable the ping and, I guess, I am concerned about devices becoming unpingable in general. I also have not turned off WPS, although I do know how to do that. I'll try that much tonight and see if there's a setting...

Possible port forwarding issue with D-Link DIR-825

Tek, yes, I have. One of the Olives is battery-powered; it's often disconnected from the grid completely and disconnected from the bridge; and the other unit still won't pick up internet radio.
