    Simply backup

I was thinking to have the NAS as raid 1. If the drive was used as simple photo and disk storage dumped from cellphone cameras etc. would archived backups be needed? Archived backups are good for virus or accidental deletion I assume.

    Simply backup

Just looking for advice. Hard drives eventually fail so I'm looking for NAS with 2 drives I guess. Basically what I want is the ability for any computer on the network to save important files to a shared drive that automatically backs up the data in case of a drive failure.

    POE Ethernet Video Camera Systems

Checking in to see if anyone had any opinions or recommendations for security systems or cameras. At my old house I had a REVO setup I got from sams club, it used proprietary ethernet cables to connect the cameras to the DVR system. It worked okay, some corrosion issues on terminals over time...

Router as access point and switch

I want to use a router as an access point to extend my wireless coverage. Is it possible to use a router as an access point but at the same time use the extra ports to connect items to the wired network as well? For example I will have the router in my entertainment center to broadcast wifi...

    Ugh, crosstalk issues?

I think I will just terminate the daisy chained line and just either leave the phone jack dead on the wall or put a blank plate on it. It's in the master bedroom that has a phone jack on both sides of the bed. Also so far everything is going pretty well. Turns out the legend the previous owner...

    Ugh, crosstalk issues?

I've finally come across a junction box with 2 cat5e cables entering and using the blue and white from each cable onto the 2 sets of terminals on the back of a telephone jack. what would be the process to convert this junction box over?

    Ugh, crosstalk issues?

so there would be 2 cat5e cables coming into wall junction box? I haven't come across that yet. But I guess that would make more sense than randomly splicing the connections together hidden behind the wall

    Ugh, crosstalk issues?

yes my cable checker works the same way, I made a couple ethernet wires and they checked out okay. Also should be note worth mentioning that the cat5e ran in through the walls and into the phone bridge are setup as 568 b. as I am making my way through gettting rid of that bridge and...

    Ugh, crosstalk issues?

I was going to purchase a cheap kit on amazon but they said that the tools aren't the best. So i ended buying individual parts. I have a crimpswell crimper and a nice punch down tool. the only thing that may be on the cheaper side is the actual male jacks, they are the ones that are hard to...

    Ugh, crosstalk issues?

I've gotten luckier on some of the cables in other parts of the house, more slack to chop the ends off. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DUdZbd4Kq4QtS1Bx1sWoc1bWqY-Q4XjWOA/view?usp=sharing Although, I made a small piece of cable to test the run and I don't know if there's a problem or i'm...

    Ugh, crosstalk issues?

I checked the box outside, it looks as if everything was already cut off? https://goo.gl/photos/Js8xVS4QWTZq61zx8

    Ugh, crosstalk issues?

Yes, my plan was to terminate with male ethernet jacks. Then place them in a switch. I thought of a patch panel but it just seemed like an extra step that wasn't necessary.
