I've been following the conversation here on the forums for the last few years or so, regarding the difference between how the kill switch is implemented now and the previous version (where it behaved differently). Does anyone know what the exact firmware version was when this new change was...
In doing some research, I've read confilcitng reports as to what is the best mode to run my VPN router in (using Merlin on a seconardry VPN router). By default, it sets itself to Wireless Router Mode. I've heard some say Gateway mode is preferred, but don't see that as an option. The other three...
UPDATE:
Changing the IP to the correct number of the router worked. That was the bottlneck. Both connections (regular and VPN are now connecting fine). Thanks so much for everyone's help!
I believe it was 192.168.2.254 (if I recall). I can tell you this number is available in the source IP drop down menu. If I select that in the kill switch section of Merlin, name it and "add" then it does work. But I assume it's just for that one individual device (which is progress of a kind at...

I have been able to set up my VPN on my router running Merlin, and everything is working great. However, I run into trouble when turning on the "Route all traffic" option with the "Block connections if tunnel goes down" setting. The VPN has instructions on adding their custom info to this field...
Yeah...honestly I didn't think so either. Just curious.
Thanks for the link about Killmon- ver 1-05. I'm researching it now and how to implement it.
Another quick question. I've been reading every thread I can find on the subject in the forum (and ever page of those threads), and something...
Thanks for the reply!
Here's a thought I had. Tell me if it holds water. What if I daisy chained two VPN routers together? The first would be my router running my custom Merlin firmware. The second would be another VPN router with a different firmware (that also has a killswitch)...
First things first, a big thanks for a great firmware (any help help provided below)!
I have the custom Asuswrt-Merlin installed on my ASUS VPN router. I have it configured with my OpenVPN, and the killswitch setting active (with the intent that if anything happens with the VPN, it immediately...
