    I have tried the test on both John's fork and Tomato. Same issue. Seems like all signs point to router giving up. Thanks for the help guys.

    Yes I have. I am now going to try alternatives (DD-WRT, Tomato, John's) and report back.

    It lasts longer... about 5 -10 minutes... but same result. CPU is at around 40% with HW Acceleration on and Memory used is steady at 27%.
