    Unknown MAC Address in logs

What devices are wired into your network, which may provide networking functions, like access points or repeaters ? It sounds like there may be another access point or old router, connected by Ethernet, which is reverting to 802.11b to support older clients based on configuration, not...

Firmware 386.4 RT-AX88U seems to have some crash detailed in the logs which disrupts all wireless activity

The router and related nearby equipment are plugged into a power bar that absorbs surges. My main rack has battery backup with a power conditioner. I will verify this and use another UPS as well. Again, this only began with the latest firmware update, which may be misleading. I will put the...

Firmware 386.4 RT-AX88U seems to have some crash detailed in the logs which disrupts all wireless activity

I will verify the power supply as suggested but don't feel that it is fully responsible here since the wired port was fully functional when the wireless devices couldn't communicate. Will also set the logging level more verbose.

Firmware 386.4 RT-AX88U seems to have some crash detailed in the logs which disrupts all wireless activity

Since updating to 386.4, the AX88U suffers repeated wireless disconnects. This behavior of wireless connections hanging/disconnecting is new and never manifested previously. The router is being used in access point mode. There is one device connected by wire( Apple-TV 4K ), other devices...

do the nodes in an Asus mesh communicate directly with each other( like they do in Zigbee )

I'm trying to more deeply understand mesh internals in terms of how they operate. Consider a mesh which is composed of one router( we'll call main ) and two nodes( we'll call A and B ). My aim is to understand these things well: a) what kind of communication in terms of network frames are sent...

Why do some wireless access points reuse the same MAC address for the LAN interface as well as for one of their radios( 2.4 or 5.0 GHz ) ?

Each of my ASUS routers/APs have the same MAC address for their LAN and 2.4 GHz radio. I don't see this pattern with other manufacturers. Is there a design story behind the decision ? Even though the WAN and LAN interfaces are implemented in software, and they can be set to virtually...

buying advice for a new NAS

Looking to buy a new NAS for local data storage, mainly documents, pictures, applications, videos. At the same time, considering to update my NVR, and unsure if I should be buying two devices or one. Can the DS1621xs+ handle standard data storage and continuous NVR video writes ? How...
